      Highly recommended books

      Idlewild, by Nick Sagan
      Edenborn, by Nick Sagan
      Everfree, by Nick Sagan

they are a trilogy, so you have to read them in that order. they are novels written by the son of famous astronomer Carl Sagan. it starts out with this kid who wakes up with amnesia and paralysis. after he regains the ability to move, he discovers he's in this strange place and he has these weird almost magical powers. he thinks someone is trying to kill him. he thinks he might have killed someone. once he starts getting past the amnesia a bit and figuring out where he is and why, it gets even weirder and cooler. i can't really say much else about it without giving any big spoilers, so i'm not going to. but you should all read them! they are awesome sci-fi books! (i mean like science fiction, not like OBEs )

nope. i have no idea if they've even been translated or not. they're fairly recent books, all written within the past 3-5 years or so.

I almost made this topic yesterday. Weird.

Life of Pi by Yann Martel

It's about a kid name Piscine (french for pool) who is traveling to America becuase his family decided to relocate their zoo. The ship sinks while crossing the ocean and he has to live some 200 odd days on a life boat...with a tiger. It's an amazing story, and the last chapter just blows my mind. Whenever I think about it I get the chills. There are also interesting views on religion and zoology.

Anything by David Sedaris, he's freaking hilarious. He writes autobiographical essays, and their the funniest things I have ever heard. I'd start with
      Naked or
      Me Talk Pretty One Day

Oh, and Chuck Palahniuk....his work is amazing. Seen Fight Club? That was his book. His best work in my opinion is
      Invisible Monsters

I'll make a nice long list:

The Sword of Truth Series; Terry Goodkind

Electric Jesus Corpse; Carlton Mellick III

Shall We Gather at the Garden?; Kevin Donihe

Also Sprach Zarathustra (Thus Spoke Zarathustra); Friedrich Nietzsche

Die Verwandlung (The Metamorphasis); Franz Kafka

      Lullaby; Chuck Palahniuk

      American Psycho; Bret Easton Ellis

      The Alphabet of Manliness; Maddox!!!!!

99.99% of the teenage population does or has tried smoking pot. If you have and you've enjoyed it, copy & paste this into your signature line. Everyone else, you're lying!

gorky: Life of Pi is an awesome book! i read it about a year or so ago, and i loved it. fascinating story. it's one of those that you can't put down sometimes.

i've heard david sedaris read some of his essays on NPR, and they are hilarious! i've never read any of his books, though.

chainsaw: the only book in your list i've read was American Psycho, which was awesome. the movie is cool, but the book is much better. you get a much better glimpse into the main character's (it's been too long since i've read the book or seen the movie; i don't remember his name) psychosis.
