      What's your favorite band/artist?

I am just wondering what other LDers listen to.

      here is my list
      -Rage Against the Machine
      -Flogging Molly
-Iron and Wine ( everyone should listen to them)
      -Nine Black Alps
      -Tool
      -Sublime
      -Red Hot Chili Peppers
      -Modest Mouse

hmm I am sure there are more but I can't think of them right this second...

i never get tired of music, but i often listen to the same type or the same few artists non-stop for a solid three months and then get completely sick of them. but they're always replaced with something else. if i ever got tired of music in general i would stab pencils into my eardrums, because there's not much else worth listening to (unless you live alone in the wilderness)

Right now I'd have to say my favorite band over-all is Interpol.

But I really also like (in no particular order):
      Led Zeplin
      The Decemberists
      Pink Floyd
      Stone Temple Pilots
      Velvet Underground
      The Killers
      Franz Ferdinand
      Iron and Wine
      Nine Inch Nails
      Modest Mouse
Relax, I know how to make cement.

      The Beatles (later era, 1965-1970)
Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page is my personal hero)
      Pink Floyd (post-Syd Barret era)
Red Hot Chili Peppers (yeah, doesn't really fit with the others, but hey, they fuckin' rock)

      (very possibly in this order...)

      The Beatles
      Joni Mitchell
      Jefferson Airplane
      Fleetwood Mac
      Pink Floyd
      Traffic
      The Grateful Dead
      Jethro Tull
      Cream
      Joan Baez
      Led Zeppelin
      Black Sabbath
Crosby, Stills, and Nash (and Young)
      John Coltrane
      Steely Dan
      The Jimi Hendrix Experience
      Hawkwind
      The Doors
      Yes
      The Doobie Brothers

I was born in the extremely early 70's, and I strongly believe that the greatest music in human history was recorded in the few years surrounding my birth. Perhaps that's no coincidence, but it's what I think.

Does anyone here know about a band called The Books? Give it a few listens and be ready to be blown out (in a very unusual way)!

well, to be precise, its not so much music i get sick of, but the limitations of all music i have ever heard. i always have a nagging feeling that so much more is possible...i think alot of the reason is that i haven't been smoking cannabis lately. music is a wonderland when ripped, without fail.

hm, well i'm not sure this'll be of any use, but there's a pretty incredible distro in san francisco called aquarius records, that has a huge amount of all kinds of music, from the pseudo-mainstream to extremely obscure/bizarre/what have you. the neat part is that with most of it you can listen to songs off the records, and find all sorts of new music to be excited about. check it out!

I must admit I'm a major fan of Pink Floyd. Wish You Were Here, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, and Speak To me/Breathe are all beautiful songs with exceptional lyrics.

It's unpossible to pick one single favourite. I guess i've been on a small Opeth kick the last few days, having seen them a couple of days ago. My favourites in general would be (in no particular order):

      Opeth
      Frank Zappa
      John Zorn
      Cynic
      Maudlin of the Well
      Meshuggah
      Pain of Salvation
      Loreena McKennitt
      Bjork

I believe you will find my favorites run the gamut: (and by the way, I am NOT going to alphabetize this list... I WILL NOT...)

      Metallica
The Moody Blues (crap, not working...)
Queen (dangit, where's a different one? Aha!)
Backstreet Boys (only when I'm feeling rebellious... j/k)
Ahh, now, where was I? Oh, yes...
      Creed
Dream Theater (by the way, Burns, I think you would like these guys if you like Metallica's later stuff, like S&M and just before)
      Enigma
Evanescence (dangit, I'm doing alphabetical again...)
      Mannheim Steamroller
      Genesis
The Beatles (great, now I'm going in reverse alphabetical order... will I never be free?)
      Yanni
      Enya
      White Stripes
      Nickelback
      Matchbox 20
      System of a Down
      Iron Maiden
      Blind Guardian
      The Canadian Brass
      Jethro Tull
      Trans-Siberian Orchestra
      Eiffel 65
      Spock's Beard

I could go on, but then I would be dominating this post, and we don't want that, now do we?

Haha, here's one I doubt many will agree with me on: Wierd Al Yankovic!!!

Gwen, I love you. You're the only one I've found so far who likes Moody Blues. Though, I have to say, just like Genesis, I only like their later stuff.
