Gasp shock!! Tom Cruise, it's been mathematically proven, has a beautiful face.

lol Well we all have our tastes. But I saw this show called "The Face" or something hosted by John Cleese, and they talked about how the number 1.6 represents beauty found in nature, blah blah blah, and they made this chart of what the perfect human face would look like, and Tom fit it perfectly.

Anyway, back on topic, I just got "waking life" from my library since it was recommended by so many. I'll watch it and get back to ya!

Not to spoil it, but he means that in the movie Tom Cruise has an ugly face. Ja_, this movie is a psychological thriller that's mainly about dreaming and lucid dreaming, not merely about the face problem.

I recommed Waking Life very much, and I guess Vanilla Sky is pretty good, but it really doesn't use the concept of LDing the way its supposed to, in my opinion. They mention LDing, but in my opinion it is a misconception on their part...

      They're both around 2001, right?

Anyway, I just got done watching "Waking Life"... and ohhh man, my brain has never gotten such an exercise from a movie!! I'll have to watch it again. I think it's excellent.

(What initially surprised me was how "normal" everyone spoke. I mean they talked like every day people do.. I've never seen anything quite like it in a movie.)

Some other ones that deal with consciousness:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
      Butterfly Effect
      Stir of Echoes
      Mulholland Drive
      The Last Wave

Some anime pieces that are about dreaming/reality/lucid dreaming:
      Yumeria
Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on Heaven's Door
An idea is something you haven't fully considered.
A belief is merely a repetitive thought.
A conclusion is simply where you stopped thinking.

Vanilla Sky is an incredible movie...its my second favourite of all time, right behing Fight Club.

Fight Club is another one that deals with some pretty cool concepts and explores the complexities of human conciousness, but nothing much to do with LDs.

Waking Life is also amazing, it's where I first learned about LDs and got hooked on the mysterious phenomenon of dreaming.

      Other Recommendations:

      Donnie Darko
Flatliners (nothing to do with LDs, but some cool OBE concepts and such)
      Femme Fatale

Waking life is a great movie, I watched it a while ago... It really pushed and kinda inspired me into lucid dreaming more... Its also the most incredibly original animating I've probably ever seen.

Yay, go "donnie darko"!!! ^_^ Gotta love those independent films.

And "fight club" was very very intriguing.

Yeah the animation in "waking life" is.. wonderfully unique. I just love how everyone speaks though. I love it.

Richard Linklater (the director of Waking Life) is making a another movie based on a Phillip K. Dick story called A Scanner Darkly starring Keanu Reeves and many other elite movie stars. Supposedly he is using the same type of post-production animation as was used in Waking Life.

      I, for one, can't wait!

I know it's already been said and said again, but here I am saying it yet again. Waking Life is where it's at. Excellent movie. And thats an understatement. I had my first lucid dream(after finding out what one is, that is) right after watching this movie. Anyone who hasn't seen this film should drop everyhting they're doing(unless you're trying a WILD or something) and go see this film. If you have trouble concentrating for long periods of time on what they're saying, just zone out and look at the amazing animations, and watch the movie again. Ive seen it at least 10 times and plan to watch at least one more time.

Of course they have it at blockbuster! That place carries a lot of independent films.. I got my copy from the library, though. Free is good.

Fight Club is indeed the best movie of all times, tied with the original Matrix, in my opinion...

I could not finish Fight Club. It was just to psycho-ly friggin wierd. Can't stand it and had to have a friend tell me (months later) how it ended. Guess it's just not my type of movie

I also don't like spaghetii....need more proof that I'm wierd?

Ooh, you know what movie I couldn't finish in my first sitting? The Talented Mr. Ripley!! Half way through, I just got this terrible feeling like something was going to happen (in the real world, not in the movie), so I had to wait like 2 weeks before finishing it!! lol

By the way, I just watched Vanilla Sky.. that's one cleverly unique movie!!

wow i saw vanilla sky about a year ago or so and i never remembered it, except that it was a cool movie... never connected it with lding tho otherwise i coulda learned about it much earlier lol
now that i think about it, that part where he tells everyone to stop talkin like the guy says to do is the same thing as controlling your dream

I never saw waking life tho but from wat ive read its sounds great! Ill see if they have it at my library. (its still 1$ to rent movies tho but they have dvds as well)
Speaking of librarys, wat are some lucid dreaming books to get that can usually be found in a library?

Hey, we forgot about Nightmare on Elm Street 3. Some of that movie's about lucid dreaming.

      What?

Oh, you said good lucid dreaming movies.

      My bad.
