Diplomacy is awesome. Although, playing by e-mail might get a little tedious... How long does each turn last?

well, it depends on the game. the game i joined allows a minimum of 72 hours for each diplomacy phase before movement orders are due. the retreat and build phases have, i believe, 48 hour deadlines. apparently, these email games can last up to a year or so. you can find more information at http://www.diplom.org.

anyway, i've never played before, and the game i joined officially started yesterday. i am austria. got any hints or tips for me?

Well, since its online... its a whole differnt board game. *pun har har*

Remember diplomacy is all about well... diplomacy. You play the other players as much as you play the peices. Be silent but deadly. Don't attack where it could turn others against you. Its really easy to slip by unnoticed online. The best time to attack is when your opponent is otherwise preoccupied. Make alliances.

thanks for the advice. i'm looking forward to an awesome game! the diplomacy phase has already started and i'm making alliances. i probably won't be able to honor them all, but that'll just make it more fun, right?
