      First Time Thrill?

Okay, this is a pretty big question and it's probably impossible but you know the songs that you like straight away? They get boring after a while, so is there any kind of drug free way to get the sort of thrill back? I don't care if it goes into the realms of complex meditation or induced amnesia or stuff because I'm not really going to try it (yet?) I just wanted to know if it was possible.

Go listen to something else for a while, something different.

Have lucid dreams and make your own creative scenarios of epic proportions.
Or, in the waking state, I suppose you could do so with skilled visualisation.

In essence, the "rush" you feel when hearing a new song you like seems to come from what you associate with the music and/or lyrics in the song.

I think it takes a long, long time for something like that. Maybe until styles have changed so much that listening to it brings a sense of irony.

I've always thought that the songs that stay with you for a long time are more likely to be those that take a few listens before you really start to dig it. The ones that you like right away are usually more gimmicky, and don't stand up to the test of time.
