Sylar. How does he do it?

We know he doesn't eat the brains, but we also know he needs them intact.

There probably also is a reason he keeps most of his victims alive well he extracts it, so ... how does he get the powers out of the brain?

I always thought he was just doing it to be grusome. When did it say he needs them intact? He was able to absorb some of their powers before ever even touching them. I can't think of them off the top of my head though.

He couldn't take Edens because she blew her powers away to the sound of a gun to the head.

I think you are thinking of Peter ...

He is a gruesome guy, though, isn't he. I still feel sorry for him, though ...

Sylar's orginal power was to instinctively know where, why and how things were malfunctioning. That's why he was an excellent clockmaker.

A bit of a sucky power, I know. But upon meeting another "special" guy, whose name I don't care to recall (he was dead soon enough), he detected his malfunction straight away (heard it) at the base of his brain. My guess is he knew where it was, why it was broken, and how to extract the power from it.

So with all this innate knowledge, it's no wonder he found a way of assuming these powers.

And yes, he's a great character.

I believe he is doing it because he envisions himself transcending above all other men... such as the man he once was. And to do that, he needs power. And to get power he needs TEH BRAINZ!

Edit: And where does it say he doesn't eat the brains? I always imagined he did...

I think he needs to look at how their brains work so that he can somehow build the same code/function/power into his own brain. Maybe he can sense it without having a proper look, but to actually get the thing he needs "TEH BRAINZ"

And no, he doesn't eat the brains. That's disgusting!

The best thing about him is the ticking that accompanies him everywhere. That's so spooky and scary and you know it means impending Sylar.

Yeah, I agree. He needs to look at the brains to see how the work. Then he makes his work that way or something.

Also I believe he does eat the brains. I remember him saying to Peter "your's will be tasty" or "Your delicious brain". Or something along those lines after the second fight with him.

Also, shouldn't this be in Entertainment?

It was stated somewhere by the producers that he does not eat the brains, but I don't have the link handy. He was originally supposed to eat them, but they decided that didn't really fit his character somehow, or something, so they changed their minds. I think they're keeping it a surprise exactly what he does do with them.
