      Try out this card game

Last night I decided to make up a card game that uses regular Poker cards. It takes elements from my card game that uses Uno cards. I decided on the rules last night and typed them out today.

It is called "Ciq", pronounced like "sick". I got the name from taking the opposite of LOL (laugh out loud), which is CIQ (cry in quiet).

      The Shuffle and Deal
Starting with the player to the dealer's left, cards are dealt clockwise, face down, one at a time. Divide all cards among all players. Some may receive an extra card. These form the Down piles. A single card from each Down pile is then drawn and placed face up in front of the Down pile. This is called the Up pile. Each player then draws three cards from the Down pile and keeps them in their hand.

      The Play
Play begins with the player on the dealer's left and proceeds clockwise. At the beginning of each turn, if a player has less than three cards in their hand, they draw one or more cards from their Down pile to equal three. The player must then either attack or draw an additional card from their Down pile and the turn ends.

      Attacking
If the top card of a player’s Up pile is of the same suit or value as one in the current player’s hand, the current player may attack them by laying the card, face up, on top of their Up pile. They may also attack their own Up pile. Attacking one’s own Up pile nullifies the attack. They must put down as many cards as they can from their hand as long as they match the suit or value of the one below it. A player may only attack one player per turn. Attacking is not optional; if the current player can attack, they must.

      Attacks
The last card put down on an Up pile determines the attack. Attacks place cards onto the victim's Up pile. These cards are placed face up. Here is a list:

2/3/4: Transfer 1 card from the top of the attacker’s Down pile to the top of the victim’s Up pile.
5/6/7: Transfer 2 cards from the top of the attacker’s Down pile to the top of the victim’s Up pile.
8/9/10: Transfer 3 cards from the top of the attacker’s Down pile to the top of the victim’s Up pile.
Jack: Transfer remaining cards from the attacker’s hand to the victim’s hand.
Queen: Transfer a number of cards from the top of the attacker’s Down pile to the top of the victim’s Up pile equal to the value of the card that the Queen was place upon. A 5 equals 5 cards, for example. Face cards equal 10.
King: Transfer the entire Up pile from the attacker to the top of the victim’s Up pile.
Ace: Transfer the entire Down pile from the attacker to the top of the victim’s Up pile.

The End of the Up or Down Piles
If a player’s Down pile runs out, they must turn their Up pile over to form a new Down pile. If a player’s Up pile runs out, the top card of the Down pile is then drawn and placed in front of the Down pile to form a new Up pile. There must be an Up pile at all times, even if it means the player won't have a Down pile until they receive more cards which they can turn over to form a Down pile. If a player only has cards in their hand and doesn’t have an Up or Down pile, they must choose one and place it face up to form an Up pile.

The player with no remaining cards in their hand, Down pile, or Up pile wins.

Modification: Attacking is optional. You may attack OR draw a card to end your turn.
