It's hard to say. I suppose they could fit the Saiya-Jin Saga (the one that follows King Piccolo's) into one movie. It would be a cram, though, if they had Goku's brother Radditz come to Earth first (he actually comes to Earth before Vegeta and Nappa). But, I suppose they could pull it off. If they focus more on progressing the action (which they should do), instead of all the down-time between battles (a lot of people would bitch about "character development, but DB is one of the longest-running cartoons ever. We have enough character development), then I think they could fit the Saiya-Jin saga into 1 or 2 movies.
I could see: Radditz coming to Earth as a cliffhanger for DB1, or at the beginning of DB2, and getting defeated. Vegeta and Nappa coming to Earth in the middle of DB2. Nappa getting defeated and the fight with Vegeta either starting at the end of DB2, or at the beginning of DB3. Those the only logical ways I could see them trying to cram all that shit in.
However, most likely, they are going to deviate a lot from the original story, in an effort to make a lot of stuff fit, which will probably change everything. Dunno.
I like those ideas :) I really hope this turns out to be an epic film...running over the 2 hour time frame. Believe it or not, there's a live action dragonball movie already made...it's not official but it's pretty damn good for people who have a low budget. I watched it on youtube. I was impressed considering what they had to work with...the name of the movie is "Dragonball: The Magic Begins"

*UPDATES*
In March 2002, 20th Century Fox acquired feature film rights to the Dragon Ball franchise. In June 2004, Ben Ramsey, who wrote The Big Hit (1998), was paid $500,000 to adapt Dragon Ball Z. In 2007, James Wong and Stephen Chow were announced as director and producer respectively, and the project was retitled Dragonball. Wong rewrote the script. Chow was a Dragon Ball fan, citing its "airy and unstrained story [which] leaves much room for creation", but explained he would only serve as producer because he believes that he should only direct stories he had created. 87Eleven, the stunt performance company that worked on The Matrix and 300, is working on the film. Ariel Shaw, who worked on Wong's entries in the Final Destination series and 300, is visual effects supervisor. Robert MacLachlan, who also worked on Wong's Final Destination films, serves as cinematographer.
Shooting began on December 3, 2007, at Mexico City, Mexico. Locations included the Universidad Tecnológica de México. From January 2, 2008, the crew will shoot at Durango. The crew will move to Estado de México in March for some shots at Nevado de Toluca. Shooting is also scheduled at Los Angeles, California. In adapting the Dragon Ball manga, the futuristic cities were kept, but the anthropomorphic talking animals (such as Oolong and Puar) were dropped. Many of the locations are very Oriental, and there will be some Aztec influence too, particularly from their temples. Many of the female leads and extras will have unique hairstyles, including Rossum, who will wear a blue wig to resemble her anime counterpart. Chatwin, however, will not wear a wig as the director felt his hair resembled Goku's.

Bulma, Piccolo, Yamcha and Mai's actors look cool.
Rest is gonna be weird, but meh, enough gel, wax and graphux, and it should work out :P
Here is Chatwin's (Goku) stunt double, doing his thing:
He's got talent, and there is a good production team behind him. Let's hope the fight scenes, at least, are DB-worthy.
piccolo's actor looks like the closest match, he's even got the pronounced cheek bones!

Our friends at DB Legends talked with Fox about the status of the trailer and if a different one would be shown with Max Payne. As it turns out, the trailer that was leaked was not meant to be shown to the public, and they were working on a better one that was scheduled to be shown with Max Payne. But because the film’s special effects are still not done, it has been delayed until later this year.

First off, we love your enthusiasm for the film. We are so sorry to ask that you remove the content. It is not meant to irritate or discourage you and your readers from following this film campaign. It’s just that the pieces of content that are being leaked were not created to be used this way. They were only meant to be shown to potential Licensing & Merchandising partners who need to make partnering decisions far in advance of release date, and the content has not been approved for online use. Elements like music clearances and even talent approvals have not been pursued because we had no intention of having this go online. Alot goes into a trailer or video being authorized for online use….
We had hoped to have a really kick-ass trailer done by MAX PAYNE’s in-theater date, but because alot of effects shots are still being worked on - we’ve decided to wait until there is more material to work with, so we can really “wow” you and the fans. This is not uncommon for a film that still has 6 months until it goes in theaters. It looks like the real trailer will be released a little later in the year.
Again, thanks for all your interest. I am happy to update you when we get new artwork and approved video to distribute. We appreciate you removing the content, and don’t mean to cause you any headaches with your readers :)
