      Songs that are pure Magic

We all know them; Certain songs that can do a whole lot psychologically/emotionally with you. These can be songs that have sentimental value, but generally these are songs that radiate a feeling that really enchants you in the pure magical sense. you know only"those certain songs" can touch you in that way and in that they are unique from all other great music you know.

Now I want you all to share songs like that and, if possible, post a YouTube- or Google video Link of the song in this Topic.

      I'll start by this song:
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2v_XY-wsjs

Manu Chao is great anyhow, but this song really mends my heart when I have experienced things that are utterly shocking, confusing and depressing. This song is to me what Christ is to a true Christian. Holy.

I can't help but feel as if somehow it brings the brightest sunshine inside my heart and make flowers and beautyfull plants flurrish inside. If I'm down, no matter how far down, this song picks me back up and enlightens me. Magic is real and this song proves it to me.

Now people share your miracle songs with me.

I am now at a place without a sound system, so I cannot listen to this song, but I will later.

      Here are my magical songs:

      Fotheringay - Fairport Convention
In the Court of the Crimzon King - King Crimzon
      Suzanne - Leonard Cohen
A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service
and compassion are the things which renew humanity.

      Loreena McKennitt - Dante's Prayer

That was the first clip on YouTube I could find with the song so I posted it.
Though not to say the clip doesn't come together well with the song.

For me alot of Chicago songs are awesome like that and they really play with feeling.

"Hard to say I'm Sorry" is an example. http://youtube.com/watch?v=UIb28iiR2d8

Also alot of Dream Theater songs but specifically "Voices" and "Octavarium"

Heaven Beside you- Alice in Chains

and there's alot more just gonna post one though

(it won't sound right unless the volume is up high, it makes the song sound bad when it's quiet)

I remember walking around singing this song in the first (or something like that) grade, the day they found out layne staley died.
(he had actually died two days before my birthday, exactly 8 years after kurt cobain commited suicide.
      R.I.P layne.

I don't seem to listen to individual songs often, but rather a playlist. Usually being of the same artist or genre the playlist is part of a journey or path which in essense produces a spectrum of different emotions and feelings. Of course certain songs have certain feelings and emotions which they will emit throughout the journey, and this 'magic' which we speak of seems to be more so situational, emerging in what seems an unpatterned progression throughout the journey.

I find a lot of Can pieces quite magical, most especially those with damo suzuki as a vocal instrument. As dodo has already posted, King Crimson are indeed a group which can produce pure magic. Recently these two bands (also Pink Floyd and Joe Hisaishi- composer for Miyazaki's animes [spirited away etc.]) when played together, seem to compliment each other and also the recent journeys I have had using them.

The songs that really hit me seem to constantly change. Over the years I've been profoundly impacted by a wild variety of styles and subjects.

A few that are easily remembered:

      Biko - Peter Gabriel
Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen (I saw another Cohen number up there!!!)
When I Go - Dave Carter
      St. Matthew's Passion - J.S. Bach
      Lock Keeper - Stan Rogers
      Santiago - Loreena McKennett

      There are SO many more!

      WOW!!!!

      That WAS pure magic...

Probably one of the best songs I've ever heard... It's a shame I only heard it just now ... (So: Thanks ^^)
Ah, yes... I've found this longer version of the song...

Ok - here's PURE magic. I've been trying to remember how to get to this one...

This is The Sad Song. Fredo Viola just kind of did this a few years back, using video from a little hand-held digi camera and what I THINK are nonsense lyrics. He has created something that gives me chills and brings me to tears every time I experience it.

      And now you can too!

      http://www.fredoviola.com/

      Enjoy.

Since I reached adulthood, only one song has ever made me cry. (Please don't tell anybody.) Being on drugs probably played a significant role, but there has still only been one song. It is "Song to a Seagull" by Joni Mitchell. I couldn't find it anywhere on Youtube. It is on her album by that name, which I think might be the greatest album ever recorded. The whole album is phenomenal. For some reason, it seems to sound the best on rainy days.

Elliott Smith / Heatmiser - Not Half Right
http://www.projectplaylist.com/music...&search=search (first one from the top), too bad I couldn't find the slower solo version, which is also great.

Elliott Smith again - See You In Heaven (and countless others)
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8TwvGTEMKA It doesn't need lyrics.

Eagles - Hotel California, of course.
      http://www.projectplaylist.com/music...&search=search Pick one.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge and Soul to Squeeze
      http://www.projectplaylist.com/music...&search=search 2nd one
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFKmzwFMI34

EDIT: The Kinks - Waterloo Sunset and covers by Def Leppard and Elliott Smith.

too many to mention, so i'll just say this

neil young - after the gold rush (album)
The trick is, you got to realise that you're dreaming in the first place.
You got to be able to recognize it.
You got to be able to ask yourself, " Hey, man, is this a dream?"
