Free MMORPG!!!

Anyone know of any good ones? or at least somewhat entertaining ones? I've been quite bored lately, and have nothing to do...

I played flyff for a couple days, but its just a complete waste of time and requires no skill what-so-ever. after level 20 its a bumber just leveling up and progress is slowed down by the repetitiveness and the same old attacks over and over. Its kind of though for the first bit, and flying around is amusing for a short time.

I tried playing Runescape, and the newer MMO's that are free and have nice flashy graphics, but they really pale in comparison with a game like WOW or WAR by a long, long, long shot.

I would suggest getting Guild Wars, it requires no monthly fee, and is a fun fun fun game and the expansions just add tons and tons of fun. In fact, I had more fun playing the Guild War games than WOW. Its really something to experience. I used to get high and play it while listening to rock music and it was a bit crazy, but well worth it. haha

Runescape was only good when they didn't go to 3D graphics.

Do something better with your spare time than playing mmorpgs. Learn a new instrument or language. Imagine how much more worthwhile and fulfilling that would be.

Anyway if you really want to play one... don't play WoW, my friend says it's extremely addicting. I've heard nothing but good things about Guild Wars though.

I don't really play MMOs, but I have Perfect World. I have a level 1 character that I use to fly around the world when I'm stressed to look at the scenery. That's the only reason I keep it installed, the world is really beautifully designed.

I'm gonna go with hungrymanz, do something better with your spare time than just wasting it. MMORPG's are actually not that fun anyways, at least not the free ones. They get really boring/repetative after a short time, so it's not really worth it. If you really wish to waste away time that badly, try playing real video games (like wii, xbox, etc.) as they tend to not get as irritating and have actual storylines to them.

there is a really great one that just came out 2 weeks ago, it is called Atlantica online. Unlike most hack and slash RPGs in this one you get more than one character to use in a fight. It is turn based but it goes so quickly it hardly matters. I would compare it to enchanted arm's battle style if you've played it, Ive also heard it compared to some of the FF games. Also the graphics are at least Assassins creed quality, no joke. If you decide to try it, come on to the silkyon server and add me Deathsythe yes, no c on purpose.

also, the pvp looks really sweet, it actually takes strategy (Imagine that!)

yeah, and there isn't such a thing as "doing nothing with you're time". If you believed in relativity, you would know this. You're brain is practically an experiment in a see of waves, and anything (yes, even a blank wall) can and will do justice to you're brain. So many people who have social lives fail to recognize to person inside of them, what else is loneliness for?!

you haven't lived until you think about death all the time (existentialism (the missing ingredient in this world))

@dylanshmai:
Thanks, thats actually me in the picture too but don't you think thats a bit outside of this topic?

Anyways back to the real deal:
The atlantica online sounds like it's worth a try, but always remember to not expect too much out of free things. The good stuff is always needed to be payed for unfortunatley.

Wanting to waste your time doesn't mean you're not wasting your time.

But yeah, if you don't want to pay a monthly free but can buy an expansion once in a while, Guild Wars is the way to go. I might start playing that in the summer.

I however, play Furcadia. It's not a big elaborate game like some of these other ones. It has shitty graphics and no stats. How is this an MMORPG? Well, you can ParaRP (Paragraph Role Playing, kind of like what goes down in the Arcane Arena). Not as flashy as other games, but if you enjoy writing and like to trade in the limits of a game engine for the limits of your imagination, it can be awesome. You find yourself becoming immersed in player made plots and becoming attached to your characters. Which is what I love about it; you develop your character, not as a bunch of stats, but as an actual relatable person with their own personality quirks and whatnot. Plus, it'll send your English mark soaring. I went from a 64% in grade 11 to an 87% in grade 12 after I started ParaRPing.

Runescape? No. Not even RSClassic. Not unless you want to click your life away. I regret the countless hours wasted clicking on rocks for coal.

I've heard good things about Ragnarok, though. Never played it. You might want to check that out.

Most of the nexon games are pretty good. I personally prefer mabinogi, but that's mainly cause i like anime. Except audition... never play that... ever...

yeah, I know. I think I let it download just before bed, so that I wouldnt feel like I was waiting forever. But you will see why it is so big once you start playing, lol.

Yeah I agree with Guild Wars, played that for a year and a half and never got bored. There's a massive social side of it with your guild as well, you get to know people. Warning of addiction though... if the rest of my guild hadn't got bored and left I'd probably still be playing.

I downloaded Second Life the other day, looks like something that you can get into, but I don't really have the time. Basically like real life, but in a virtual world, ie. everyone is tall and hot and wears nice clothes..

Guild Wars is a lot more fun than WOW, but I can't stand how they rehash the same spells in expansion packs, if anything Guild Wars could learn a couple of spell tricks from WOW, but overall the game play and pace of the game makes it so much more enjoyable, and I've played both a lot.

Once you start playing the Guild Wars expansions, you get even more hooked. Its like they made the game twice as good and it just keeps getting better in later expansions, but my advice would be to start with the first game and then play the following expansions in order, because it sort of follows the experience hand in hand, but some of the expansions don't require the original game. The expansions add lots of difficulty too in my opinion, so if I hadn't played the first game I would have probably given up.

Don't play gunz or flyff or runescape or any of that garbage.

Surprised at how many have even heard of Perfect World let alone play it. Thought it was one of those obscure asian online games that no-one even knows about. But yeah. It's easily the best free MMORPG I've played. I haven't really played it all that much, but from what I have, it's quite good. The character creation system rocks. It's not like Gunz or something where they say like 'CREATE YOU' in broken english and then they have like four faces and two different shirts. So you have like 8 different people in the whole game. In Perfect World, every one is different. You have like 100 noses, eyes, ears, everything. Can change up hair color and eye/eyebrow color to any shade, yeah it's pretty good. The first half hour or so in the game I wasn't even doing the quest, I was just walking around since the game is so beautiful. And you can jump really high, lol. So it's fun to just try to get up on top of the huge structures in the cities. Anyway, it's the best I've played out of many of the terrible ones I've played. And the Engrish isn't too bad either.

Yeah, Guild Wars is good. For a little bit of money (like $30-40) you can get it, but it's got no monthly fee. I guess the best part of this game is that there's literally no grinding. You get to level twenty and that's it for leveling. If you really wanted you could get to twenty in two or three days. The real trick is in building a character with the right skills and proffessions.

Does it have open PVP? Killing people is the only reason I'd ever play an MMORPG
