      Pixar

I just watched WALL-E on DVD for the first time, and I'd just like to publicly reiterate that Pixar are the completely unrivalled creative geniuses of our generation.

This has got to be the best so far, it's just so mind blowingly beautiful, the visuals, story, characters, sound, they're all completely perfect...

Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille... these guys just keep getting better and better, it's unbelievable.

Comes from originally being a branch of ILM, I'm sure.

      Don't forget Cars and A Bug's Life!

Up and Toy Story 3 are next. I can't wait.

I would rather see something a bit more original than a Toy Story 3.

      That would be Up.

Cars was the only one so far that wasn't remarkable... I'd imagine because at the time they were just trying to get out of the scam of a contract that Disney had (there was a five film deal but Disney said Toy Story 2 'didn't count' because it was originally meant to be straight to video. Uh...).

Toy Story 3?? Damn... really Pixar? I mean all the loose ends are done... it's like making the Pirates sequels.

I would agree about the Cars thing. I thought that was by far the weakest Pixar film, but Toy Story 1 &2 are ballin like Finding Nemo and the Incredibles.

Up looks pretty cool, never heard of it before now though.

I personally liked the original plot Pixar came up with for TS3. But they had to scrap it due to the 7 year contract. I like this new plot they thought up, but I would have really liked to see the 1st one on the big screen.

Found one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toy_Story_3 I know it's wikipedia, but this is accurate.

This was the time when TS3 was going to be made by a separate studio called Circle 7 Animation, made by Michael Eisner. Circle 7 came up with the original plot, not Pixar. But it was scraped after Disney bought Pixar.

      I was off quite a bit, wasn't I?

Thanks. That original story sounds pretty good, I like that better than Pixar's. But knowing Pixar, it'll probably be pretty good anway. Cause man, after he goes to college? How depressing.

They have a good forumula and a good group of people working for them

However, they also have the rights to Burrough's "John Carter of Mars." It's set to release in 2010 or 2011, but I sure hope it's not totally animated It's not mean to be animated!

John Carter of Mars? I've never heard of that one...

Hmm...after a bit of random exploring on Wikipedia last night, I found some shocking (at least to me) news. There's going to be a Cars 2! I also found 2 new films; The Bear and the Bow, and Newt. All are apparently set to be released consecutively after the debut of TS3. Seems like Pixar will be here for years to come!

Now if only I could find proof of the supposed Incredibles 2.....

E.R. Burroughs was a serial-style writer who submitted chapters to sci-fi magazines for publication. They published the whole series later and they are good books! They're out of print, though, so you're probably not going to find the series at a local book store, but you never know. They're great vocabulary builders, too!

John Carter, a 30 year-old fighting man from Virginia, wakes up on Mars where he runs into the various "peoples" and learns their ways and customs and technology. Over time he explores the far reaches of the planet, rescuing those in need, crossing swords with villains, and makes war with his enemies, eventually earning himself the title "Warlord of Mars." (That's a very, very, very rough description.)

He also is the author of the original Tarzan books, which I haven't read but someday might. My dad has those.

The original TS3 premise sounded more interesting. And yes, Cars was one off their weaker movies (the only Pixar animation listed that I consistently liked less was Bug's Life, though Cars does have its moments- music, sort of), but they've certainly made a comeback with WALL-E, which was Full of Freaking Awesome. How many movies can make someone standing up and flipping a switch the climactic bit of a movie, and make it work? Same goes for the world's cutest cockroach.

Ok, I haven't actually seen Wall-E yet. But I'm confident it's gonna be one of their best movies in a while. I'm renting it on Blu-Ray from Netflix....I'm pretty sure I'm going to drool at the visuals.

*sigh* I'm just sorry I didn't have a girlfriend at the time to go with to watch it in theatres.
