All of a sudden, I have fallen in love with Indie rock. Post your favorite bands here. Oh, and for my fellow Indie lovers, check this site out: www.freeindie.com It is a blog that shows recent Indie bands and downloads of samplers of their music.

Cool, I'll check them out. Freeindie.com had a band called Carlon. I got the sampler, and I'm considering buying their stuff now, if I can find it anywhere. Rockets and Cars are cool too. But Tokyo Police Club is just something else.

I only dabble in indie anymore and most of my tastes are a bit out of date, but one random little band I like is Mason Proper--strident, kinda paranoid psychedelic sound. TV on the Radio is getting more mainstream, but also great--especially Return to Cookie Mountain. Kaki King, Cat Power in small doses, Wilco, Bright Eyes, the Kyle Sowashes, Aloha, Railroads and Clearcuts (heh, those last three are friends, but good!). Also, of bands that slept in my living room when my apartment was one of Columbus' premier indie rock motels, El Boxeo was the best (gotta love rock violin!). There's also Then if we go back in time there's Rainer Maria and Belle & Sebastian, who both still get regular rotation on the iPod. I guess the Modest Mouse albums I still listen to were indie at the time, as well I'm more into the soulful and psychedelic in indie rock, whereas it sounds like you're more into the high-energy stuff--I tend to go electro for that, and highly recommend Modeselektor. I'm also liking Junior Boys right now, but they're new and it's hard to tell if it has staying power. EDIT: for finding new indie music, The Hype Machine http://hypem.com/ is pretty sweet, especially paired with the Songbird browser.

I have this $5 app on my I-pod that's kind of like guitar hero, and there's one song listed as Indie, I was wondering if anybody knew what band it was. The song is.... Walk, Idiot Walk or something like that.
