Ah, fear. Have you tried Metro 2033 or S.T.A.L.K.E.R (with Extreme Graphics Mod)? They had great atmosphere... a nice, cold, isolated, gritty and eery feeling.

Yeah, played both, but they were not even close to F.E.A.R in the scary factor, in my opinion :)
Metro 2033 was fun, but a little too scripted... but i still liked it. But i never finished S.T.A.L.K.E.R... not exactly sure why, i always just stopped somewhere and never got around to it again. I started it again like 4 times already over the years, but never advanced too far... Maybe i should give it another go...
Fear never did anything for me, but then the fear/scary factor doesn't really apply to me. It's the atmosphere that gets me... i.e., lack of music, and tons of ambient sounds (more psychological) - STALKER was good for that. Metro, yeah, scripted a lot... not much choice.
If you install the extreme graphics mod onto STALKER then it'll feel a lot better. Also, better weather mods and ambient sounds mods. ^_^
Edit: I still need to try that Amnesia.... watched a few videos of it.
I didn't even know that there were mods for it :P But i definitely feel like i should give it another go sometime soon.
But currently i got Bulletstorm waiting for me to try.
I didn't like it much judging from videos, but since i'm too bored these days, i'll still try it... who knows, maybe it'll be fun... and i've even seen a HUGE monster in one of the gameplay trailers :P
I'm a few hours into Xenosaga 2. The battle system is so shitty compared to the first one. I just hope I can push through without wasting too much time... just get through the awesome plot, and fuck the sidequests. Then, I hear Xenosaga 3 is pure bliss. :)
When it comes to open world games, I find there tends to be mods. Like GTA, Elder Scrolls etc. But after I've installed mods for any game, I can't handle the vanilla install... seems so bland. >.<
Never tried bulletstorm -- looks like a cross between vanquish and gears of war. Big bosses = fun, usually. :D Soon find out.
Mh, don't play alot of videogames anymore, sometimes I continue my DayZ character or play Heroes Might and Magic 5 with family or friends. But yea DayZ is always like the journey to your own death.. so for some it may be a frustrating game when they have false prejudices or expectations.
Not sure what's vainquish, but i can definitely see the reseblance to GoW :)
As for big bosses... did you play Lost Planet? It had some really cool huge bosses and those fights were kinda amazing too ^^
But the game's controls are somewhat bad for the PC... and then Lost Planet 2's controls were just too horrible for me to be able to play it.... shame because it has even bigger bosses :(
Seen videos of that, and heard it was released with another game or two in one deal. Still not checked it out -- am I missing out?
Vanquish you can slide around too. Yeah... that's it.
>.< I've heard of it, too, but never played. Do you only play games on PC then?
Yeah, i like FPS games :) I tend to be good at them once i get used to them... althrough i'm not much of a competitive player, but it still feels good when i'm on the top of the scoreboard :P
Auto-aim is something that i just purely hate... and some PC ports still have that option, ugh...
I guess my aim is good enough :P
The only FPS I play is CS and Quake Live, and I'm darn good at both of them. :P
Though lately my friends have been pressuring me to try MW3 and Battlefield, so I might give them a shot soon. :content:
I wanted to play Battlefield 3... since it seems to have that huge scale battle multiplayer that i would like... and it even has vehicles, especially flying ones... and i just love going around with those on a battlefield and shooting at walking enemies xD
BUT... turns out it uses Origin, the curse of EA... and there is no way i would pay money to EA. So i guess i have to skip it.
Just started trying to play DayZ yesterday. It was night time and my flashlight wouldn't work sometimes. D: I didn't know were to go to find weapons without being chased by zombies and I didn't know how to escape zombies with out a weapon or one situation with a later which ended with me trapped at the top of a ladder were I bled to death. Seems like it will be a very fun game. :D Any DayZ players wana help me get started with this game. It's suppose to be more fun with a team.
Ah there you go. You're my arch nemesis . I love intense, quick moving battles.... and then some sniper picks me off from afar. Bastards. They end with about 8 kills, and me 50. Dunno where the fun is... o.o
I LOVE sniping too! xD
I am almost always the sniper in CS and Quake Live, sometimes we play as teams and I always have to carry the sniper.
But I'm good at it so I don't mind. :content:
@wolfwood, I'm not the 'camper' type of sniper, I move around quite a lot. I have to buy the upgraded pistols though, in CS.
