I for one am gonna be pissed when I have to pay taxes after dying. |

the estate (death) tax is one of the most obvious things that show americans weakness and basic domestication....it is something that you would think would make americans or anyone nuts. but we just deal with it? now they are talking about raising a death tax. taxing things upon death that you have paid for in already shitty, unfairly taxed dollars. it is out of fucking comprehension. enjoy your american idol. enjoy your nightly corporately approved news. enjoy watching the republic crumble from within. fucking sheep.... |

I think sheep are the ones who get riled up over something totally trivial. You realise that if you didn't pay a 'death tax' you would just pay higher taxes throughout your life to compensate? |

Die broke and alone, problem solved. |

I like how Americans cry about the inhumanely high taxes, when we are paying about 5 times as much through out most of the EU. |

Naturally a government has a fixed income. If you remove one tax, you just increase other taxes, or introduce new ones, otherwise it will have a defecit. Hence the notion of removing a specific tax can only come from a particularly small minded person. |
|
Hehe, that's kind of like when Americans complain about gas prices when they're 50% higher in Canada and 2+ times higher in Europe. |
|
Like reducing defense spending ? |
|
I'm not sure such arguments like "lol, they complain about their prices, but ours are much higher!" really apply. I mean, American's don't compare their own prices or taxes to international ones. They compare them relative to their income. |

I try to deny myself any illusions or delusions, and I think that this perhaps entitles me to try and deny the same to others, at least as long as they refuse to keep their fantasies to themselves. - Christopher Hitchens

I'm pretty sure Marvo knows that a) the USA is a country and b) Europe is a continent. |
|
Should it really be called "defense" spending when most of the US military budget is geared towards projecting world power and invading foreign countries? |
|
I was referring to what makes up the union, not the union itself. A thing is very different from what composes it. |

How do you know you are not dreaming right now?
Strictly speaking, defense would be soldiers defending the homeland, warships patrolling home waters, interceptors covering national airspace, etc. A world network of military bases, strategic bombers and an entire military branch based on seaborne invasions (the marine corps) are all elements of an attack force. |
|
Ooooh, wow. Technically not every European country is a member. Powerhouses like Switzerland are not in it. Okay, it might as well be just a country. |
