Serious(ish) question, I mean I think there should be another Olympics equivalent for drug users. I don't see anything wrong with athletes using performance enhancing drugs, as long as they don't cheat and do it in games where it is forbidden. The only reason it's frowned upon is because it's not fair for the athletes who aren't using them.

So, in my opinion there should be a separate Games where absolutely anything goes: drugs, cybernetic legs etc. Obviously anyone could enter, they wouldn't have to artificially enhance their performance in some way. It would increase scientific knowledge if it wasn't frowned upon and it'd be fun to watch!

A post about using supplements to enhance lucid dreaming got me thinking about it...

It won't change anything, you will just have a bunch of druggies who are destroying their bodies doing it. Drugs and stuff are impressive when you compare someone who takes them with someone who doesn't but against each other it really doesn't add anything.

The competition is going to be exactly the same except everyone will run like .5 seconds faster or jump an extra 5 inches.

Yeah, that's a good point actually.

Just want to add: When I said anything, I meant anything. Even for example, rubbing frog poison into self-inflicted cuts to run a marathon. A South American tribe uses it when hunting armadillos which takes hours to dig them out of the ground in the high humidity. It makes the tribesmen hyper and they don't tire.

Actually, it can be administered by scientists or whatever who want to test some new things on atheletes. The athletes first have to, I guess, sign a form saying it's experimental but has a good chance of being safe. They don't have to be "druggies".

i'd watch the cyborg olympics.
don't know about the drugs though, some people might go overboard and mess themselves up.

I voted No. There should be one Olympics, and IT should be anything goes. Being an Olympic champion is all about perfecting your body and athletic skills. If doing certain drugs is part of the equation for the ultimate in that, then it should be allowed. The Olympics are for the WORLD'S GREATEST, not merely the world's greatest boy scouts. If somebody would feel that he is at a disadvantage because he does not want to harm his body in the long run, then that is just too bad. If you aren't willing to pay the price, then you don't get to win. If the Olympics ends up being a bunch of 50 foot tall lab babies on supersteroid rat poison who will die in a month, then that is just what nature dictates the contest must involve. The Olympic committee needs to stop being a bunch of weenies who favor those who are not willing to do what it takes. It is about the pinnacle of athletic competition, and nothing should cut that short.

These steroids have too many damaging and dangerous side-effects. Seizures. Rage. Even that Neanderthal boney brow look -- everyone looks like Schwarzeneggar and talks in a stupid Austrian accent.

Indeed, they don't really have to test anymore. Judges only have to measure the bone formation of the skull and determine that some bonemass is characteristic of nothing other than steroid loading. Anybody who looks like Schwarzenegger needs to be disqualified for having taken the same thing Schwarzenegger took. One freak like that is enough.

If "anything goes" you could just get in a car and drive to the finish line.

You could also shoot your opponents dead. I suppose I should have added, 'within reason'.

Remember it doesn't just have to be steroids, if you wanted you could compete whilst tripping, or using bionic arms.

You just can't drive down the track or kill anyone. And that includes crushing heads There'd be no competition if your opponents are dead.

To be honest, I think it's up to each individual athlete to decide for themselves. What gives any government the right to tell an athlete what they can or can't do with their body?

Adopted Megabenman although he disappeared a while ago.

Absolutely nothing, but at present it would be cheating, which is baad.

Then I think they should do what you mentioned at the start and either make a whole new olympics equivelant for drug users, or change the rules. Actually, changing the rules would be unfair on those people who work real hard on doing well without drugs so that's not such a good idea.

Also, I might actually consider watching the olympics if they were allowed to use drugs; it would probably be more interesting.

Like Lee Evans said in one of his stand-ups:

It would be a hop, a skip, and a where the fuck did he go[/b]

I like it.

EDIT: This isn't really an extended discussion as I originally thought - sorry mods!

We didn't mean that kind of anything goes. We're talking about anything goes in terms of training and body building. I think the sports themselves should be the same sports. I don't think soccer players should be able to use their hands or that volleyball teams should be able to put big nets over their parts of the court. But it might be interesting if soccer players get to put 18 wheelers in front of the goals or run out of the stadium with them.
