      International Coming Out Explosion?

I don't quite know what it is but it seems that in recent times, theres been like an explosion of people coming out to the world, more and more people are becoming comfortable enough to admit their sexual orientation.

What's your take on this like near explosion of coming out?

Is society really starting to accept Homo/Bi/Trans-Sexuality finally?

I thought you were gonna say there was gonna be a set date that everyone is supposed to come out. I was ready to bust some heads, lol.

I think it's great, we're increasingly accepting and this is a good thing.

Well I watched rove live and remember him making out with one of the guys off chaser. Not to mention who would you turn gay for. It's pretty safe to say we no longer care much about sexual orientation. Those that still care are becoming the 'fee fee like Clumsies' of yesterday with a carrot stuck up you know where.

I agree, I think its only because we are becoming more accepting. It would be funny if there were just more bi or homos being born though. dunno why I would find that funny, just in an ironic way.

Yeah, today on my way home a guy approached my on the subway and told me that he was bisexual and on his way to the city park to meat random strangers, after his boyfriend broke up with him due to becoming heterosexual. We then proceeded to delve into this topic while I was eating my fries, loudly exchanging thoughts about the nature of sexuality. He then went on to say that his boyfriend was a psychopath anyway, at which point I arrived at my destination location and wished him good luck on his nocturnal endeavors.

So yes, guerilla, there seems to be a mass coming-out going on in the world... although it's probably not that special for German standards since the mayor of Berlin is gay anyway.

hey guerilla...thought you might be interested in this. whiteman is a famous OBE'r and was female identified. i still think it's pretty fucking brave for people to feel free enough to be what they are. it's definitely easier these days to be homosexual, but for people who are trans, it's a million times harder, especially those undergoing medical treatment.

Michael Talbot's book The Holographic Universe has this to say about J. H. M. Whiteman:

[I]n his 1961 book The Mystical Life, mathematician J. H. M. Whiteman revealed that he experienced at least two [out-of-body experiences] a month and recorded over two thousand such incidents. He also disclosed that he always felt like a woman trapped in a man's body, and during separation this sometimes resulted in his finding himself in female form. Whiteman experienced various other forms as well during his [out-of-body] adventures, including children's bodies, and concluded that beliefs, both conscious and unconscious, were the determining factors in the form the second body assumed. (Emphasis added.)

      This has inspired me.

I will now inform every stranger I come across that I am Heteroexual, and that if not whipcream, then sour cream really does work for me, and I am sure they will take the time away from their day to give a shit.

i.e. Why make it a big deal if you don't want it to be?

That's interesting I wonder if I will ever have a OOBE and see myself as a female form, That would be cool to see.

Obviously society is becoming more accustomed to homosexuality, you'd have to be a moron for not seeing that. Not so long ago it was against the law, for goodness sakes. It's nothing new though, there have been countless societies before ours in which homosexuality was fine.

I don't think homosexuality is a very good thing though. I have absolutely nothing against people who are homosexual, and indeed some of my 'favourite people' are (Graham Norton lulz me up). But if someone was either going to be hetero or homo, I would choose hetero, because the unavoidable truth is that homosexuality is detrimental to the species; if we were all gay, we'd die out. I'm also against gay adoption, I think, because the lack of a mother figure could well be detrimental to the psychological development of a child.

I'd have a different attitude if there were such a thing as a 'gay gene', but it looks pretty definite that homosexuality is something developed at an early age through environmental factors... I'd rather these environmental factors were identified and stopped personally. I'm not saying 'kill the homos', I'm just saying that, being a heterosexual, I personally think that you'd have a much better life being romantically and sexually attracted to women and being able to raise a family, and by not stopping psychological events which turn a child gay, you are essentially inflicting upon them a life which is not as good.

Unfortunately, not all heterosexual couples produce children (some by choice, others due to being infertile) so that kinda renders that argument null.

Just because society is becoming accustomed to homosexuality doesn't mean everyone will become gay. If anything, it will continue to be a minority thing, but all this progression means is that the minority is more accepted and allowed the same privileges as everyone else. Besides, who cares? There's enough humans on the planet already so it is not like we are on a shortage of humans.

Also, there has been studies done on the whole gay parenting issue, and none found anything to show a detrimental effect on the child's mental health. Besides, not all heterosexual couples raise their children well, and a small minority even end up mistreating/abusing the kids, so the psychological harm you are worried about can actually be caused by any sort of parent, regardless of gender or sexual preference.

It just seems a little strange to argue those sort of things when you don't account the fact that sexuality has no bearing on how good someone's parenting skills are, something that is shown over and over again thanks to the news.

Hm, but if the world population were actually controlled properly? Would you rather have a planet full of heterosexuals or homosexuals?

Sexual freedom is probably a good thing, yes... you're right that, at the moment, world population is too high, and also that many heterosexual couples do not have children... but still, a homosexual person does not really have the option of naturally conceiving a child with the person they love, which I don't think is a good thing. So I would rather that people became heterosexuals.

Technically, Lesbians can conceive... they would simply select from a sperm donor place, so it's not so clear-cut. Also, relationships aren't about reproduction. I think the human race has shown itself to be very capable of sustaining itself, even though some willingly twist the reproductive instinct in a fashion that is not conducive for producing babies (including heterosexuals). Also, heterosexual couples also engage in anal sex, which pretty much does not allow for the production of new babies (unless sperm is leaked from anus and gets into the vagina... if you are not sensible enough to use a condom anyways). Same goes for oral...

You use the word "option" and I will take full advantage of that. It is an option, not a requirement, and this option is not always there for even heterosexual couples. I just don't see what the big deal is about with that.

People who do not reproduce do not create parking space takers. The fewer people, the fewer taken parking spaces.
