      2009 GLobal Marijuana March

      http://www.globalmarijuanamarch.org/

      Who's attending?

There's currently no march set up for Buffalo, so I and some friends are looking into organizing ours.

Sounds like a good idea. Too bad there isn't one in Toledo.
157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.

Is this going to actually bring us closer to legalization? Because from what I observe all of these protests and marches accomplish nothing, no offense to anyone but I think we need to be more bold, aggressive, and RUTHLESS.

I have so much brimming anger within I could literally out of anger force a crowd of riot cops on their asses with my bare hands, if marijuana isn't legal within the next 2 years I'm going to just go mad, tear my hair out and scream obscenities for all to hear.

      I can see it now.

"Wasn't there something we were supposed to do today?"

      "uhh..."

      "Something about walking?"

"Why would we need to walk? We already bought chips."

"I can't remember...probably too much work anyway, pass me the bowl."

Why? Do you have cancer, glaucoma, etc.? Do you really need to get high so bad that you want to rip out your hair?

Honestly, I'm all for the legalization of marijuana but there is nothing you can say to me that will justify the use of violence. If it really would take that to get there, its just not worth it.

So get one started. You've got 5 months. Start a Facebook group, a Myspace profile and start recruiting people.

Yes. For every person that shows up to the protest in the area the people in charge(assemblypeople, mayors, etc.) will see that there are people who want the law changed.
Most politicians only care about getting re-elected.
If people let them know that they won't get voted for again if they don't take steps to change the unpopular laws then they will take those steps(most, not all)
Protests aren't a way to insta-change the laws. They are a mechanism to spread truth, to educate and to make out voices heard.

That won't accomplish anything but make you another statistic(not to mention all the extra time spent re-growing your hair)

Agreed. The only time I would advocate violence is a full revolution to overthrow the government.
But not over something like pot. Yeah it sucks, but you can live without it being legal.

I'm just angry, thats all....lots and lots and lots of pent up anger about our laws, our society, our way of life, and how its such BULLSHIT.

I hope one day rational and intelligent people hold elected office, and not religious zealots and bigots and incompetent corrupt idiots.

I just feel cornered, like were going nowhere and accomplishing nothing...im a pessimist by nature and I always seem to doubt anything will get better, I just hope some good comes out of this march.

Although I highly doubt pot will ever be legalized, I just don't see it happening in my life time, or even the next generations lifetime, that is if we don't all fuck up the world and end it with nukes.

      Ahhh, aren't I a ray of sunshine?

I think we will live to see the day pot is legalized in the U.S. The baby boomers are still in power, so the pot laws are still lightly hanging on, a lot more lightly than they were when the WWII generation was in power. When your generation is running things, I think the war on pot will end. It is already socially acceptable to admit on the Tonight Show and VH1 that you smoke pot. You can tell pot smoking stories on T.V., and the studio audience will laugh. 20 years ago, that would have been out of the question. It would have gone over like a Slayer concert at a Baptist church. It is not being taken so seriously any more. The day is coming.

Why is it on may 2nd? shouldn't it be on april 20th?

april 19th would be better, or the 21st but no one would show on the 21st

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

Stupid generalizations. The only people like that are 14 year olds.
This was that cult, and the prisoners said it had always existed and always would exist, hidden in distant wastes and dark places all over the world until the time when the great priest Cthulhu, from his dark house in the mighty city of R'lyeh under the waters, should rise and bring the earth again beneath his sway.

Because awesome things happen on my birthday by nature. You might even expect me in this march.

Global Marijuana March: because you can't smoke pot in front of cops any other day of the year.

I may be going to the one in Downtown T-dot if I can.

Kush, you should come to the Buffalo one. That would be awesome.

OD, 420 is really only celebrated in North America(specifically the US). So that date would have as much significance for the rest of the world as May 2nd does for American stoners. Plus they figure we'll all be too couchlocked to get up to the town square.
