I'm just wondering, but what are you suggesting here? That we abolish all political parties? That the Democrat and Republican parties be merged? |

I don't think there's anything wrong with parties, it's when they let sectarian bullshit get in the way of progress that bothers me. The Paris Commune always comes to mind when I think about parties (or ideologies), just because it's an example of both orthodox Marxists and anarchists working together for the good of the community. Granted, Marxists and anarchists aren't complete extremes, and both share similar goals, but still, the point remains. |

I'm with Catbus. Parties aren't inherently bad, but Republican vs. Democrat politics in America have nothing good to offer. Or, at least, they have more bad than good. It's always been that way, since Jefferson was elected. They interfere with politicians making the right choices, they create mob tactics among the people who are supposed to be making clear-minded choices. |

I agree. A few years ago, I coined the phrase Republicrat and I'm sticking to it. An english political scientist - forget his name - put it the best. Somebody was trying to get him to justify the united states policies towards cuba and he comes back with: "You know, Americans are always so quick to come down on one party systems but what most Americans don't realize is that America itself has a one party system. It's just that, in their typical extravegance, they have two of them." |

Personally I hate both. People are right, they are the same party. Their both pro large government, their both for spending money we don't have, and their both pro interfering with every other country in the world. |

Parties suck, neither one is 100% right 100% of the time. I associate myself as liberal, but I wouldn't be caught dead registering as a democrat. Democrats complain to much about what's wrong, but do nothing to fix it, whereas the republicans complain about what's right and try to break it. |

Hah! No, I was talking to you. I guess I'm just so radical that everything we're saying on this thread seems to me like we might as well be saying that the sky is blue on a clear sunny day |

What matters is not the parties but the ideoligies behind them, and how it effects the country as a whole. |
