Thread: Who remembers Chernobyl?

That was a pretty interested read. I especially liked the part where she talked about the trees that were glowing red after the meltdown, and the photos of the Ghost Town. It's just so weird to see a big city with no life in it, an empty civilization in a way.

Very interesting read. It's like being dropped into another version of our world,
another timeline, you might say. I'm also reminded of HL2.

What this documented experience does for me most of all is express the power
that human technology has already achieved many years ago. It's always
difficult for us to fully appreciate what our machines can do, or to at least
understand what it is they are capable of. To know that a reactor can power
entire cities, even, doesn't really portray for us the kind of energy it's releasing.
To see one of those cities ruined and completely vacated paints a better
picture in that respect.

Strangely eerie too, not only because it's empty, but because it's a place that's
remained frozen in time. A life-size photograph of what used to be, rotting
without anyone to maintain it.

The sad part about this story is she is a fraud. She was never allowed to just ride around the city. There are many sites that debunks hers. it is still interesting and informative. I think I am going to try and plan a tour in the next few years.
It is amazing what we have come up with over the last 100 years and what our technology can end up doing.
It also kind of reminds me of the move I Am Legend.
