I know weed makes you see things like they really are..... |

I am curious about this subject, what effect if any, do drugs have on meditation? |

I've meditated on LSD numerous times, and it's one of the single most gratifying experiences I've ever had. Really taught me to unite with each passing moment; to absorb the sounds, sights, smells and become one with everything beside you, under you, and over you. |

Starry starry night, paint your pallet blue and gray,
Look out on a summers day,
with eyes that know the darkness of my soul.
i tried meditating high on weed. |

I won't even bother meditating if I have been on a pot binge in the past three weeks. That stuff makes it impossible for me to feel the natural high from meditation. Pot kills my ability to have lucid dreams that last also. I don't know about the other drugs. I can't see alcohol being anything good for it. I have read very positive reviews about meditation on mushrooms, but I have never tried it myself. |

You are dreaming right now.
altagu, the point is to stop thoughts....when you stop the thoughts you experience your true self. Just stop thinking so much, and breathe. Just be aware. |

Yes I know it's hard to meditate when your high, but I see it as the more you attempt to shut your mind up while high, the easier it becomes. If you can stop thoughts consciously while high, when your sober you will do it automatically. |

I've tried meditating on shrooms and weed and alcohol. Shrooms is definately the best, you feel amazing doing it. I was just sitting on a bench, and closed my eyes. It wasn't like lotus posture meditating, but it was pretty cool. Weed, like others have said isn't really good for meditating, your mind is easily distracted and wanders off on millions of tangents. I haven't actually meditated on alcohol, but sometimes I'm sitting down, just watching people and I can get into a pretty interesting state of mind. It's usually pessimisic thoughts, but suprisingly profound. I think I alcohol causes you to relax your mind from constantly reacting to the incomming stimuli, causing you to have a steady thought stream that can be focused on. But that's only with a small amount, like 2-3 beers. Alcohol was actually thought of as a drug for enlightenment when it was first discovered. Sober it is hard to meditate, I find I can do it alot easier after I do Taichi, I get very relaxed. I still find my mind wanders a bit, but I need to work on that. |

Sounds like you've been smoking some dank sativa, out here we get nothing but indica which makes you sleepy and wanna just sit on the couch and play videogames. |

In about a month I'm planning to take some LSD and do nothing but sit zazen for most of the trip. The thing is I've never sat for more than 45 mins, and even that was a bit agonizing. |

157 is a prime number. The next prime is 163 and the previous prime is 151, which with 157 form a sexy prime triplet. Taking the arithmetic mean of those primes yields 157, thus it is a balanced prime.
