      Tone De Mello

Lectures, talks by Tony de Mello, a mystic, spiritual guide and psychoterapist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Y3Q7H2urto

I highly recommend this stuff. It is something to be listened to by everyone, I'm sure people keen on psychology and spirituality will be fascinated. Or outraged. But this stuff cannot leave you indifferent.

This is great stuff, thanks a lot.

      I'm up to part 8.

What he said about people listening only to find confirmation for their own beliefs pertains strongly to the thread you made in R/S about theism/atheism. Very similarly, most people enter in to those discussions only to prove their position and usually not to actually learn anything new. This is why, as you say they only accomplish to feed the ego. Either people encounter others who believe as they do which gives the illusion of bolstering their position (argumentum ad populum) or they encounter people who believe other than they do and enter into a "fight" as if ones ability to debate is evidence for the veracity of their claims.

Tony De Mello's 'Awareness' is just mind blowing.

BTW, the other of my topic you're alluding to was actually based more on Eckhart Tolle's 'A New Earth' and 'The Power of Now', however, what Tony deals with is basically the same topic, only Tony has a bit different way of trying to convey the same 'eternal truth'.

If you liked those videos, I recommend excerpts from Tolle's talks - they are available on youtube as well.

BTW, I must confess that I'm a bit worried, because those two guys almost hypnotize me - they make so much sense never has anyone made to me, and I don't want to fall into a trap which is to identify with these spiritual knowledge and teachings and make it a part of my beliefs. You know what I mean. After all, what all these masters are trying to say is that you cannot 'know' the truth, say it through words. It doesn't matter what you believe in. All that matters is whether your heart is open, or, as De Mello would say, to be conscious, aware, present.
The problem is I've already become too attached to these teachings, as every knowledge which claims to offer 'ultimate truth' is a nice thing for the ego to believe in and enhance itself. So I warn you - don't get overexcited as I dd, just DO what he says and it helps - I've experienced it many, many times - but, for God's sake, don't content oneself with only BELIEVING it, cause it is very dangerous. I've read De Mello and Tolle about a year and a half ago and only now I slowly begin to truly 'understand' it, using this hints and teachings in real life, before it was that I only believed in it and thought I know everything and the rest of the world is so 'unaware' and I tried to convince sth of 'my truth' and they always rejected it (these teachings are difficult, certainly not sth light) and so I became more and more assured in my being more 'aware' than the others. In reality, however, I was in deep unconsciousness. Now it's much better.
