Why is it ok to say... but not....

Why is it ok to say

"I'm glad you married a Black/White man, i've always wanted mixed race granchildren"
"gay men make the best Singers/Actors/models etc"
"Minority group X is better than Majority group X, in field Y"

      But not

"I'm glad you married a White/Black man, i've always wanted purely White/Black granchildren"
"straight men make the best Singers/Actors/Models etc"
"Majoirty group X is better than Minority group X, in field Y"

In fact, it used to be the other way around. Because social change happens gradually, at what point was there equilibrium from which the scales would sway the other way?

Do you hear that kind of stuff a lot?

I can't really think of anybody I know, that have ever said anything like what you just wrote.

I've never heard anything like that either. Except maybe the last one in joking context.

I hear the stuff about mixed race children probably weekly, if not more. And on various forums I'll read posts like "X is better than Y at Z" with X being the minoirty several times a day on various forums. I'll go fetch some links.

The fact that people are saying such things doesn't really prove anything. What you came in here asking is why saying one thing is allowed but the opposite isn't, when it's obvious that either aren't really different from each other.

I guess going into a debate with mostly racists and homohobes and then saying something along the lines of "fags are awesome" will get some people angry, but wasn't that really to be expected?

What you're thinking of has already been discussed one time on this forum actually.

edit: you are actually the one who made that thread.

that thread was about legally enforced employment practises etc. This thread is about the social climate.

While they are equally as bad/acceptable, social opinion of them is very different.
