      Question REM Help

So I have a vague idea about REM cycles, how they work, and when mine occur every night/morning. My problem is, how do I pin-point the *exact* times I enter REM sleep? Does everyone enter REM after 5-6 hours of sleep, or do you need more? And what if my REM cycles are late in the morning? For example, if I have to wake up at 7 for school and my REM starts at 8. Sorry for so many questions XD I'm just a little lost.

There are a lot of charts on google that show basic REM cycle times. It is different for everybody. You have to set alarms and see if you come right out of a dream when it wakes you up. I know that I have a long REM period around 6 1/2 - 7 hours of sleep because my alarm clock goes off then and I usually come right out of a dream. REM periods happens all throughout the night. The earlier REM periods are shorter and so not many people use them for trying to WILD, etc. The longer you sleep, the longer your REM periods get. So the REM periods later in your sleep are the most ideal if you are trying to have lucid dreams. 5 hours and on are going to be the better REM periods to use. Just try to use alarms to map out REM periods. No chart that you find online is going to be the same as your own REM periods.
