      Odd Dream

Hi I'm new to this site and I was wondering if I could get some insight on a dream I had the other night.

I am not a lucid dreamer but this was the longest and most detailed dream I've ever had:

I am walking at night with my step-brother in an apartment complex. We pass into an area of complete darkness suddenly something hits me extremely hard in the sternum and I fall to my knees and start to suffocate. The world around me starts to fade and realize that I am going to die. I just lay there helplessly dying until I blackout. I appear in front of a computer screen. I think to myself "This is the afterlife?" A program opens informing me that I can create anything I want in this new world that I have just arrived at. After I finish reading it I appear in a desert similar to the Sahara. I start to shape the landscape and create the Nile and the Pyramids. When I am finished, I appear in the same room with the computer screen except this time the screen is hanging from the wall. A picture of a man with a blurred face appears on the screen. I observed the room he was in and I saw cages with all sorts of animals in them. I turn around to see a long hallway leading off of the room. The man on the screen tells me that the longer it took me to get through the maze, the more animals would have to suffer. I stand there puzzled and the man picks up a cat and lights it on fire and tells me to get going. Frantic, I sprint through the hallway and try to get to the end of the maze as fast as I possibly could. When I reached the end, I was in a very large room filled with people all standing completely motionless and evenly spaced in rows. They appeared mindless. I proceeded through the room and that's when I wake up from the dream.

When I woke up I got up out of bed and entered my shower and thats when the entire dream came to me.

First, you dropping to your knees symbolizes mental or emotional surrendering. You gave up or gave in to something. Laying there until you die represents you doing nothing, or being unable to stop an inevitable change.

Someone telling you that you can do whatever you want now that you've died is a symbol for this change allowing to you create your life as you want it. The problem is negative thoughts will be a problem because you will create your life based on all thoughts including negative ones.

The animals in the cages are all aspect of your personality that are confined or under control. If there were any birds this is bad because they symbolize freedom and escape from negativity. If you had other animals it's most likely a good thing.

The cat on fire at the end is a symbol for an illusion you have consuming your mind, or becoming so powerful or irritating in your mind that it's not become obvious to you in your waking life. A cat is your need to feel good, or feel better about yourself. Cats are self-deception, and lies you tell yourself. Cats are sign that you need to be more objective, and self-critical. Give up dependence on anything, and stop thinking you need anyone or anything to do what you want in life. Cats can also be symbols for your need to feel loved and cared for, or to feel sorry for someone else.
