When a dream involves a game, I'm teleported inside the actual game. I'm not on the computer with a mouse and keyboard and monitor. I'm instead in the actual game as though it's reality, moving with my body, pulling gun triggers with my hands.
I've known a few people very well online, and almost every time I dream about one of them, it's an in-person scenario. In the dreams, I rarely consider that I'm meeting the person for the first time or anything like that. They're just there, like any other DC, like any other person I know in real life who I happen to dream about.
The strange thing is, I never actually think about doing either of these very often. I almost never imagine while playing a game that I'm really there. I don't think about what it would really be like to use my arm to slash at a zombie with a katana. I've never handled a real gun in my life. In my daily life, I consider these people I know online to be far-away people I interact with on the computer, who I'll likely never meet in person. I don't think about meeting them in person very often. Yet my mind creates these scenarios effortlessly as though it's the natural way to dream about them.
I understand why it would happen. Dreams like to engage the senses. It would be a pretty boring dream if it involved me staring at a computer screen. I just find it a little strange. Does this happen to other people?
