Hey guys. I'm posting this thread to ask a question about dream divination. I was recently given a book called the "Dream Dictionary - 10,000 Dreams interpreted". I skimmed through it, and it was stating that dreaming a certain concept means that a certain thing is awaiting you in your future.
For example, I looked up "Wrecks", because car accidents have been a recurring theme in my dreams. The explanation was that I am approaching financial disaster, or that something bad would happen soon. But the way I see it, is that the recurring theme of car accidents reflects my anxiety about car accidents, having witnessed a few in my life, causing a traumatic awareness of car accidents. Not only do I notice car accidents in my dreams, but in my subconscious while awake. For instance, when I drive, I often subconsciously visualize myself getting into a wreck. I don't think this tells me anything of my future, but rather, reflects my views of the past and reminds me to stay safe.
I interpret my dreams as reflections, not as predictions. I'm not going to knock the "prediction" interpretation, as I respect all beliefs on the matter... But I somehow feel like books like these are a scam of sorts.
I feel like even if anyone were to understand a dream's prediction, they would have to understand their own dreams and life events... A fortune-cookie response tied to a general concept just doesn't seem plausible.
So I'm asking you, the DreamViews community - to share with me what you know and join in discussion about that concept and what you personally believe. Elaboration is good!
Eagerly awaiting responses, Drei
