Do you always play an active part in your dreams?

Most of the times I have normal dreams. That is to say: I have a dream body and interact with the world around me.

However, there have been a few times when my dreams have been like watching a movie, I haven't been an actual character in the dream and just watched it happen and processed the information. I don't try to interact with the dream because there isn't a me to interact.

Note that this is different from simply not having a dream body. For example when I'm browsing the internet on my dreams, the browser takes up my whole perception and I click on things without using my body, but I still have a conception of self and exert my will on the dream. In these dreams it's like I'm not aware of my own existence.

So I was just curious about the experiences of the rest of you, has it happened often?

      Lucids [0! (Yet)]

Whether you think you can or think you can't -- you can't.

      I can, but not you.

Yes pretty often. It makes dream journalling hard that way because I have no idea how to explain that this is my dream but I'm not in the story. The dream sequence gets even confusing when I became one of the characters in my dream halfway during the dream and I have to write, I became "Him" or "Her".
