      African Dream Root [Silene undulata]

Give me your personal experiences with the root and I'll share mine. I've never had a lucid dream, I'm taking this more for the vividity of the dreams and the recall, with potential increased lucidity as a bonus

I just today bought the root and received it yesterday. Chewed half a longish stick (consumed about half an inch to an inch long piece; the taste is awful, something like the taste of licorice and the way weed smells with a hint of aspartame/artificial sweetener. Surprisingly sweet though, but the bitter herbal taste just made it taste like artificial sweetener or something. Nearly gagged a few times, but I got it down on a very empty stomach, had a pb&j about 15-20 mins later. This was at 4pm.

Later before bed, I had the other half of the stick. I also took a good bit of Valerian root, some soya lecithin, and some L-arginine (I hear these 2 supplements help sleep, and I couldn't get to sleep to save my life last night). Finally got to sleep and I had about 10 dreams (of which 2 or 3 I remember, one might have been part of another though so not sure).

Dream 1: This dream occurred in 3rd person, looking from space at the moon/earth from a relatively close distance. I watched as the moon kind of melted into itself, sucking in and eventually disappearing. After that, the earth started to do the same, but I felt a sense of panic and was like oh no no no! (**note below)

Dream 2: (possibly related to the first) I'm now in 1st person. I'm at a school and there is a large group of people wondering what do we do now and people (seemingly from the school) are trying to reassure people that things will be OK. In the end, I sneak into the kitchen and find a pantry that is larger than normal (though I don't notice that in the dream) and now that I think about it, it looks more like a supermarket with kind of an open but fenced area. Theres a lot of people already hiding in there, but I kind of take control and go lock the doors so more people don't come in (theres a lot of food but not for the entire crowd that was outside). Then I go around and look at what food there is (I went to bed pretty hungry, was too lazy to cook lol) and eventually come over to a gated fenced in area, inside is a large freezer and another gate to the outside. the inner gate locks but the outer one doesn't have a lock.
Eventually people start trying to get in and I have a gun and go in the fenced area to stop them from stealing the food (corn dogs and some kind of drink that, in the dream, was apparently my favorite). I aim the gun and they leave the food. The dream gets fuzzy and possibly ends after that.

Dream 3: This one takes place in kind of an apocalyptic setting in a desert-ish middle-of-nowhere-y place with a bunch of scattered houses. I'm with a pretty good sized group of people, as well as 3 bears (2 dark colored and one goldeny colored) and some criminals. We go out of the house we're in and start going somewhere, eventually stopping because we're under attack by some kind of rival group. I'm not explicitly aware of where we are, but it seems like we're inside some school. Suddenly we're armed with guns and I order a few people to go out and and see whats up/kill them whatever. So they go out. Then there are more that are almost inside, and we need more guns. So I ask someone (who i believe might have been my old science teacher lol) "doesn't the school keep guns around for emergencies?" and he says yes and we go get them. Oddly enough, they seem to be weapons from the game Fallout 3. Eventually, in kind of a blurr, the opposing group/groups surrender or are killed (not sure which) and we continue to wherever we're going. We finally stop at a similarly deserted area with many houses and I go inside one with someone. I look around and decide that it would make a good prison slash icecream store, pondering on which rooms to make the cells, but ultimately consider making the house I started out in the dream the prison and this new house the icecream store.

So yeah. Not sure it was the root that helped, but more vivid and numerous dreams than I'm used to, and weird as hell to boot. There was another dream I'm sort of remembering now, but I only vaguely remember what I was doing...some friends from work where there and I was training on something by putting fires out with a fire extinguisher. Also vaguely remember something about being in a store of games and tv's, not sure if thats related or not.

**Note: This part of the dream where the moon/earth collapse seems close to lucidity, more so than I often get. It felt like I was starting to wake up maybe, I could feel my panic affecting things around me and the sudden uncollapsing of the earth seemed to be related to em shouting "no no no stop". interesting stuff!

Huge update, holy shit. Pretty sure this stuff works. (P.S, first lucid dream ever, mind=blown)
((from my other thread...it was that incredible it needed its own thread))

I just woke up and I'm pretty confused as such as to what just happened, but heres the jist.

Couldn't sleep, kept waking up. 6am, get up and do some stuff around the house for maybe 10 minutes and god back to bed. Then I can't tell from this point whats going on:

I keep waking up, but I'm not sure if I'm actually waking up at this point or if I'm waking up in the dream. its weird. But its not strange to me, because I kept waking up before so I just lay in bed and when I "wake up" I try to go back to bed.

Eventually, I wake up and somehow realize I'm dreaming, so I go off and do some stuff(won't go into dretails lol) that I'd probably do if I were lucid dreaming. Then somehow I got into some wierd non-lucid dream.

The thing is, I'm not sure if I was lucid dreaming or if I was dreaming so vividly that I was fooled into thinking it was lucid. I definitely did stuff I'd wana do, I even reality checked a LOT. I'd do the time and reading RC, the time one always worked, the reading one usually did, but sometimes didn't.

      What the hell just happened?

Have tried this root many times with much success!

I usually chew half a gram for 20 minutes, and then spit it out. Sometimes I will get waking effects, although they are very subtle. They usually consist of mild sedation and very very mild visuals, although I have not seen this happen for most people. As for dreaming effects, they are profound. I don't have any specific dreams recorded, but while using Silene Capensis, I generally get about 2 lucid dreams per week, without trying. Also, my dreams become much easier to remember, much more vivid, intense, emotional, and colorful. I remember one time I had a lucid dream where I was flying and I noticed the sunset, and it was the most beautiful, vivid, and colorful sunset I had ever seen, in a dream or waking life. I also had a dream on Silene where I made contact with something that called itself the "Pinecone Spirit". I also notice that this root seems to bring my subconscious to the surface in my dreams, as a lot of the dreams have to do with underlying issues I have suppressed or ignored.

All this being said, Silene Capensis seems to be hit or miss. I have given it to some friends to try, and none of them have had any success with it. It seems from reports that I have read as well, that just as many have had success with it as those who don't. Suggestions for those who want to try it and see if it works for them, give it at least 3 days before you judge whether or not it works, as it is reported to take multiple days for the alkaloids to build up enough to the point where it will start affecting your dreams.

I've only started taking in for the first time for about 4 or 5 days now. Sadly, I'm down to small little bits of thin root...the big pieces were few, I think I got ripped off >.>

That said, I'm also wearing a nicotine patch and I didn't know that causes vivid dreams, but I didn't know that till a day or 2 after I start trying to quit lol.

my dreams are certainly more vivid and the content a bit more interesting usually. Its too bad the root is so expensive...where do you get yours from?

I just get it from amazon.com Amazon.com: Organic A+ 1/2 OZ Silene Capensis Root Xhosa ubulawu African Dream Herb: Everything Else

I just bought 4 of the half oz ones. The full oz. ones are less expensive, and I highly doubt they are any different than the half oz. one since they are from the same vendor, however the full oz. has only bad reviews so I paid a little more to play it safe.

woot, just had my second lucid dream,!

started becoming lucid and instinctively reached from from something to read, it was screwed up; double checked by trying somethig cool. I went outside and pulled the moon closer. At first it didn't work, but then it did and i knew for sure i was lucid. cool stuff!
