Traumatized by repulsive flavors in dreams?

This has happened twice in my life. I can't be the only one.
I have developed aversions to foods based on tasting them in my dreams.

The first time it happened, I tasted stale popcorn in my dream. It was so horribly disgusting that I cringed at the thought of popcorn for months afterwards.

The second time happened recently. I dreamed I was regurgitating spaghetti sauce with disgust. Ever since, I feel absolutely repulsed by the smell and taste of spaghetti sauce.

Neither of these times did I eat either foods before bed or even within a week of having these dreams. They were really, really random.

So, whhhhy? Why is my brain traumatizing me with these foods? I am actually quite fond of popcorn AND spaghetti sauce, so I have to now put myself into a kind of food therapy so I can stop being disgusted.

As a person who enjoys the occasional snack, I must say that sounds horrible. I'm not sure if I've ever had this happen to me, although I'm inclined to think I have at some point... Although dream food for me is usually very delicious from what I can recall. What if you went out and tried some of the best spaghetti sauce ever, or some delicious popcorn from your local movie theater? Or are you too grossed out by the mere thought?

In real life I drank some horrible tasting chocolate milk a few years ago and got extremely sick afterwards. Ever since then I will not touch chocolate milk, and very rarely will I ever use chocolate syrup. Milk and chocolate mixed together are a big no for me. I hope, however, you can manage to start enjoying spaghetti sauce again!

That's basically what I've had to do, overwriting dream memories with delicious ones... I wonder if it's some sort of "bug" in the dream system, like the way your brain can teach you how to avoid things before you even encounter them... Except it's overdoing it?
