      That you were shown a terrible thing does not necessarily mean you were meant to prevent that terrible thing. That may suck, and I cannot imagine how you truly feel, given these circumstances, but it could be the case... Fate may have been giving you a heads-up to prepare you for Its powerful impact, and no more.

      Or it was all just an unhappy coincidence. Who knows? At this point, and forgive my harshness, does it really matter?
