Question Who am I if I am not me?

A few nights ago I had a non lucid in which I watched myself literally deflate to nothingness. It was as if I was looking at me through another 'me' point of view. I don't recall feeling any pain, or any emotional attachment for that matter of my impending doom. I was quite simply a spectator in witnessing my undoing.

I have had plenty of dreams where it feels like watching a movie but this was the first time I actually took notice of the fact that I was watching myself. Was I a dream character? Could I interact with myself if I chose to?

My question is, has any one had this type of experience before and if so could you share it? I would love to hear of any interactions between conscious 'you' and your projection of 'you'.

it ahppened last night as i was seeing my Ex-crush saying what i want to tell her if i met her next time (i haven't seen her in years and didn't end well) and i got so scared...another LD that i had i asked my subcon "what he would look like if it was a real person" and i saw a younger version of me crying and attacked me as soon as i got near him and woke up instantly....

it's your subconscious that you see in those dreams if you have a feeling that the person in view is you...it may symbols something
hopefully it cleared something for you

What you describe is what's known as dreaming in 3rd person. It's very similar to playing a video game, where you're looking at a screen watching 'yourself' (or a character that represents you anyway - an avatar) and frequently you see 'yourself' die or experience terrible things. It doesn't cause any great grief or pain to you, because it's just a game - a simulation. That's all dreams are really - your mind playing improv games with mostly random ideas feelings and memories as they come up. The only time it has any meaning is when you're experiencing some powerful emotions or thoughts, and especially if you're consciously in denial or repressing them. Dreams are when these repressed feelings or memories or whatever can express themselves. I'm not saying that's what happened in your dream - honestly it sounds like just random mental chatter.

I cant interpret your dream, same as you cant interpret my nightmare; in answer yes I have had this kind of dream, changing bodies and playing multiple roles comes to mind, cognitive awareness in a sleep state is the best I can think of.

Random mental chatter sums it up brilliantly, Darkmatters. I would say I'm a pretty grounded person and very rarely do I recognise any underlying message to my dreams other then day residue. Trying to interpret my dreams seems futile to me personally but that's not my focus. I am excited to come across this scenario again ( maybe a little less morbid) in a lucid and see how I can interact with 'myself'. Just have to stay focused.
