      Tedious Dreams

I'm glad to still be able to dream. My recall hasn't diminished. But I realized that a majority of my dreams are relatively boring. Its not often when I see monsters or anything magical worth sharing (ive had these mainly when I managed to get lucidity). Recently I saw a bunch of naked classmates in my dream, and people spoke a bunch of different languages I didnt know. In past dreams ive had stressful, mundane moments at school or in other places. I dont live a narrative or go on quests. I realize this is a fairly common complaint.

Is this because I tend to value mundane things like school deep down, and just focus on having a normal life rather than one of excitement? I noticed that if I put alot of value or time into thinking about certain things my dreams tend to have it, like I used to love video games, dream of playing them or even meeting the characters, now I like certain people (I wont elaborate) and they pop up occasionally.

Or is it because I just generally lack an imagination and the brain capacity to tell a decent story?

      Are you lucid in them?

      Hi,
Well, my take on this is quite different than many others I think. In our dreams we are the producer, director, scriptwriter and often main actor. There is nothingin our dreams by accident. In a single "boring" scene, there is much to learn about oneself, whether or not one is lucid.

If you'd like to check me out and see what I mean, you can look on this board for a number of interpretations I've given. You can also go to my free website, * Link Removed *. where I have a dream discussion paper, a story I created to explain the multiverse we live in, the 10 things I've learnt from my dreams, sample dream interpretations, a rich resource site and a page talking about different meditation techniques.

If you are interested, let me know and post here or via my website one of your "boring" dreams. I will then happily assist you in interpreting the dream as my own.

      With kind regards,
      Guy

Yes. Or frankly it simply looks like when life gets boring.
As you said, no developing story to yourself or life, no quest. This is what you lack, not ability of course.
So it might fit with your classmates naked or almost without character, reflecting on your view, and people may as well speak another language if you're not that engaged.

Well, don't quote me on this but I recall Stephen LaBerge mentioning that lucid dreams engage our creativity more than normal dreams, so that's that. It also might be that you just don't have much material. People like to think that creativity is about creating things from a vacuum but that's not how the human mind works. We need concepts as fuel for our brains. Doubly so for your dreams because it really is an experience created from our memories, so it's not like your subsconscious sits down and decide what it will make to entertain you. You'll have to do that yourself. You'll have to read books, learn new things, travel, do interesting stuffs.
