I can remember on numerous occasions in my dreams, I have been stabbed through the back with something. It normally goes right through me and I can see whatever it is right through my chest. When this happens, I feel alot of pain in my dream. I am normally aware I am dreaming at this point, so therefore having an LD, but I never knew about them until yesterday, so the pain normally wakes me up, or I wake myself up. But here is the thing. When the thing is stabbed through me it hurts alot to move in my dream. And I mean alot, it's a sharb stabbing pain at my back, and although I am aware I am dreaming, I don't want to move to get out of the dream because it hurts so much. I normally then awake afraid to move because I don't want the pain stabbing through my back.

This has happened to me on numerous occasions, but all before I knew what LD's were. Has anyone had anything similar happen to them before, and how do I avoid it, because it hurts alot, and really feels like it hurts.

Yes, this happens to me too. Except the pain lingers even after I wake up from the dream. Usually the pain is from a gunshot wound either in the back or in the thigh. I usually become lucid when I get shot because I know this couldn't possibly be happening in real life. But when I wake up, I still feel the pain. It lingers for about 10 secs or so after I wake up.

I think there are other threads about this floating around somewhere...

When I was younger I hit my head on a pipe in a dream and it woke my up, felt so real.
Also the other day I dreamt I knocked my tooth out of my mouth, feel really painful, I could even taste the blood. Horrible dream.

I've had extreme pain, but it never lingers.
Cut me off on the middle, it'll hurt like hell, but only for a short while.

I actually i don't remember ever really experiencing much pain in dreams at all. Although i did last night.

I was having a dream that i was at a train station. Long story short, somebody wanted to take me somewhere, and i knew he wanted to kill me. So rather than go through the pain of what he might have had in store i saw an oncoming helicopter, which was travelling below the platform somehow, and jumped straight into the blade. I felt no pain going through, but i landed on the floor the other side, as a ghost, and there was a sharp pain in my left ankle. I thought it was weird at the time, since i was dead and i thought it odd that i would feel pain in death (nevermind the fact that being dead was strange in the first place&#33. But the pain soon left when i got up and walked around (in the dream). And no waking pain at all.

This has never happened to me (I've felt pain, but never excruciating or lasting pain), but a friend recently told me of a dream she had a long time ago. She dreamt that she was impaled through the stomach, and she woke up coughing up blood. Whatever the cause, she's fine now. Another friend was there when she told the story, and suggested that pain in our dreams is how the brain interprets pain we're feeling physically while we're asleep. It gets translated into the dream and manifests to fit the environment. For example, I had a dream last night that a spider bit my hand and I did feel pain. I had probably just been lying on my hand or something. The other friend (who suggested this explanation) said she had fallen asleep on her arm and dreamt that the entire thing had burned in a fire and was now numb.

It is created by fear. Do not fear it and you will not feel it.

I had a dream yesterday in which I was stabbed. Some random girl kept stabbing me in the chest, opening flesh wounds. A molotov cocktail was also thrown at me, but it missed. There was a fire infront of me, caused by the molotov, and I walked into it and stood there for a good while. It would also be worth mentioning that I was naked during the dream. But I did not fear the pain, thus I could not feel it.

I took revenge on the girl, even though I did not feel pain. She had disrespected me and deserved to be punished. At first I picked up a medium-sized rock and crushed all of her teeths with it. Now I dragged her around to humiliate her, and decided I would slowly torture her to death to set an example.

I remeber reading some where a study that scientists hypnotized a guy telling him he would be burned with a cigarette, they then poked him and when he was concious again he said he felt a burnig where they poked him...

Who knows if thats real though.....

For some reason i want to call the biofeedback but i think thats wrong.....

yeah in nightmares of my youth I remember Being bitten by a dog in my upper leg. It felt so real..like the teeth were really crushing my bones and my leg went all numb and tingeling. Also one dream I was tied to a palteau in some weird scientific lab and someone shot a laser at me me and it really burnt and felt tingeling.

crazy indeed that the Dreaming mind is able to Mimic the Pain-sensation from Waking life so realistic and incredible good.
