I've just been wondering what people have a tendency to focus on when they're recalling thieir dreams (lucid or not) and if there's a link between those attributes and our waking lives. What do those things that you recall more easily tell about who you are?

Personally, I tend to focus on:
-Locations: Not necessarily detailed, but just a general idea of where I am; if I'm near a location I'm familiar with in real life. Sometimes I remember more specifics about what the place looks like, but I tend to recall the broad idea. Locations are constantly changing as well.
-Actions: Probably what I recall the clearest. I usually, though not always, recall the motivations behind my actions as well as what other characters are doing.
-Characters: There always seem to be a lot of characters in my dreams and they're always changing as well. If I'm in a large group of people or in a location where people are present and I'm not involved, I tend to focus my attention on one or two people.

I sometimes recall:
-Objects: If I'm going after something for one reason or another, I don't always recall what it is, but as above, I tend to recall the motivation behind the interaction.

I rarely recall:
-Physical Descriptions: Colors, clothing; general physical characteristics of people.
-Names: These don't seem to be very important for some reason. Sometimes there will be someone or some place with a name of another person or place I know IRL, but it won't be the same as IRL.

(I'll try to add more to this when I have more time.)

I always recall what happens in my dreams, I always have some specific event in my dreams.

I then look at the locations.

My recall then goes onto feelings but I hardly remember that.

Me too ^^ these are the same things I find myself focusing on. Probably because they have the most to do with what's going on in the dream.

I get what you are saying -- I have a few differences:
--Location would be first I think, like you. It is usually very detailed and a lot of times not somewhere I've been before, or if it is someplace familiar, things will be different, but always complete and finely detailed.
--Actions too, I usually seem to know what I am doing and have a goal in mind, even if nonsensical later.
--Characters too; like you there are usually a lot of people, who can change, especially people I know will change into each other.
--But Objects--I don't do good with; they don't stay stable, I can have something in my hand just an instant later it is something else; or I will be trying to recall a dream and the small objects just aren't there. Big objects sometimes aren't right either.
--And People--I can usually remember clearly what they look like; as well as I can IRL; sometimes I think about them and wonder if I ever saw somebody who looked like that, or if there is somebody like that somewhere.
--Names--same as you, DC's can seem very important but if they are strangers they usually don't have names. If I could remember, I would like to ask a DC's name sometime when I am lucid.

Interesting to think about. And may help with focusing on the things that I usually can't remember as well.
