Very odd dream last night. I go to bed every night now saying "anything related to school or my old job will be dream signs" and now my brain is playing tricks on me.

It moved me to a weird room (reminded me of the "band" room in high school, but not enough to realize it and become lucid). The characters in my dream were of my last professional job (now self-employed). I talked and acted around them as if I would IWL.

Then I sat on a couch. I looked at my hand. There was a piece of tape around my index finger. I felt around in the couch with this hand behind me and when I pulled it up there was this weird L-shaped piece of metal that got stuck between the tape and my finger.

I removed it. Saw some blood. Got up, walked to what felt like an island in a kitchen. Looked at my finger agian. It was spurting blood profusely.

There was a doctor there (in plain clothes). He didn't want to help me at all. I asked him why, he didn't respond. I felt myself getting lightheaded in my dream from loss of blood. VERY weird and VERY real feeling! But how I didn't recognize it as a dream is odd. Woke up soon after, thinking it was close to 7am, but looked at the clock and it was only 4:30am, so I thought it would be a good chance to fall back asleep and attain lucidity... didn't happen. Darn.

I did take a melatonin pill last night just for fun, to see. The last couple nights I didn't have very good recall (but I also had drank a few beers).

Only the cinders remain as another night becomes a yesterday...

Hm, interesting dream. But, you're asking why you wouldn't realize it and become lucid?

Whenever you're asleep it's really difficult to discern reality from just being asleep and in a dream, and unless you're actively trying to become lucid, say, with constantly doing RCs, you're not going to see anything weird in this situation and continue on your way, missing a possible LDing opportunity.

RCs are my problem. Even in dreams I never "remember" to do them. It normally takes something REALLY weird to realize I'm dreaming and take over. I guess shooting blood or meeting Axel Rose don't count.. lol.

I do get lucid one out of 10 dreams (dreams that I remember that is). Sometimes it's brief, other times it's for a long time.
