      Drunk dreams...

'Ello. I have noticed lately that whenever I drink and go to sleep I wake up remembering more of my dreams and they are extremely more vivid and clear.

I would have thought the opposite would be true (ie. forget my dreams) but I'm not complaining.

If anyone has a reason as to why this happens or if this happens to you feel free to post a comment.

      Thank you in advance

What # of beer are we talking about? I used sometimes drink excessively to have "hangover" lucid dreams. The body when very hung over to wake-up out of bed allows for more dream time for me (not recommended), but I do not think you mean that many.
      So how many 1-3,3-5?
      Just curious

I believe what you are experiencing is REM rebound. Alcohol suppresses REM sleep during the first part of the night. Your brain compensates for it later in the night by having prolonged REM cycles.

The main problem is, Lucid Dreaming is usually suppressed as well, even during the early morning hours after consuming alcohol.

Rule of thumb I have found, more than two drinks before bed usualy wrecks lucid dreaming.

Ah, that sounds about right. Thank you, Seeker.

And to answer your question Infinity, it is usually between 6-9 with sleep followed directly afterward. But I am somewhat of a heavy drinker so tolerance may be a factor...

I've noticed this too. But I don't think it's unusual as being drunk means that the ego is less in control, giving more space to the unconscious. I've also noticed that dreams when drunk are really no different to dreams when sober, which suggests to me that alcohol doesn't affect the unconscious.

What will neurologists make of that???

My dreams are definitely different after a night of drinking. They can get really, really demonic.

As for the neurologists, they don't deal with the ego or the subconscious. They deal with neurotransmitters and synapses and whatnot. So they probably won't have to make anything of what you said.
How I discover what my dreams are about

In my last lucid dream I made pink sparks between my palms. I was trying to make a white ball of energy...

Perhaps it depends on what you drink

My latest hangover dream wasn't too good either. I saw three partly rotten dead babies rotating, and they got closer and closer until I would go through the eye of one of them, and I saw three new dead babies and it would happen again. And again. And again.
