      marijuana and dream recall

Well, i decided to remember my dreams and become lucid. i put a notepad next to my bed and before i go to sleep i tell myself tonight i will remember my dreams. nothing happened.
Does the fact i smoke hashish and marijuana affects my dream recall abilities? im sure it is, since when i stop smoking for a few days suddenly i have weird intense dreams.
Anyway, i have no intentions to stop the smoking right now, i really want that the dreaming and the smoking will go together, is it possible? is there any information about this subject?
      thanks!

Lotsa luck... I think most of us around here are of the opinion that they don't go together very well. I quit chronic toking (after about 20 yrs.) to go for the lucidity. I still smoke occasionally, like maybe once a week, but almost always "pay the price" in terms of zero recall that night. And believe you-me I loved my weed. Good luck!

Yeah, in my experience they didn't go together well either. The reason you're getting crazy vivid dreams a couple of days after you stop smoking, is because of rebound (or it's called something similar), and that's normal, then after a while your get back to normal.

When I used to smoke, I would have a really hard time remembering dreams... I would remember random scenes of a random dream maybe once or twice a week (nowhere enough for having LDs). When I stopped for a month a couple of years ago was when my recall increased a lot and I had my first LD. Now I quit for good about 5 months ago, and my recall has been averaging at 2 dreams per night.

What's for sure though, is that it varies for person to person. Overall, marijuana does affect dream recall in a negative way, which is in turn bad for LDing. However, it helps some people at night by relaxing them, which in turn could help with WILDing. It really just depends on how it affects you...

Good luck, and welcome to DV!

That's funny, I went to bed fucking stoned last night and I woke up remembering details of some dreams. That doesn't usually happen.

Starry starry night, paint your pallet blue and gray,
Look out on a summers day,
with eyes that know the darkness of my soul.

Smoking any form of THC and Dream Recall usually don't go hand in hand-

THC and Memory, actually don't go hand in hand; This is the root of the problem. Not only is short term memory deterred, but memory as a whole, even when not under the influence is affected. (However this seems to be reversed after quitting for a substantial amount of time.)

You can see what problems this presents for dream recall.

HOWEVER, it has been done, and is done by alot of members. As for how succesful they are and would be if they didn't smoke, I could not tell you. It's your choice, don't give up on it either way.
Lucid Dream Count: N/A (3-7 a week average)

      Current Goal(s): Master dream control/length, Master WILD'ing

Have no fear; For the power behind you is greater than any problem ahead of you.
