      Morality.

A dream is to be considered all in your head, I suppose. I would like to know, are you all bound by morality as I am in my dreams? I find that I am bound to a strict moral code in my dreams, that I may not even be bound to in RL.

Its hard to get into specifics, but I can address one issue by explaining a dream i've had before.

well, basically I spoke to someone in my dream, as if they were a person in my dream, not a charector. I asked them what would happen if I woke up, they said they wouldn't exist anymore, and then I said doesn't that make you said, and they said no because they were doing something important. At that time I was incredibly sad, and couldn't take it anymore, I retreated into losing my... well now I've learned that you would call it a "lucid state" but at the time I had never heard the term.

Does anyone else feel like that?...Like the people in your dreams deserve sympathy? I don't know, I feel ashamed for having toons in my dreams since I know that eventually I will wake up and the ywill no longer exist.

As well as the people they represent, I would not want to dishonor them either.

Edit: I just wanted to add, that while the topic relates to lucid dreaming, it has nothing to do with it. I only want to know about your emotions tied to your dreams, if you have ever felt bad for someone dieing in your dreams, or for hurtning someones feelings, etc, I would like to know. although believing it is a dream may change the equation a bit, I would still like to hear about al lof your experiences with morality.

I don't like to hurt people in my dreams.
It makes me feel real bad if I do it. I know they are just figments of my imagination, but I don't think they are the same as video-game characters. They are made of part of my consciousness, and because of that the are just a little bit alive, and so I like to treat them with respect...
However I don't have a problem of killing people in my imagination ( not my dreams ). I think the distinction I make is because I have full control on my imagination, but little control on the dream characters, and so they have a life of their own. "life of their own": this may be just a phrase, but it has some truth in it I think, while the imagination characters are more like imaginary puppets.

Thats the way I see it anyway, I know there are a lot of people here who treat them as video-game characters and enjoy killing them in funny ways, and I don't have a problem with that, but thats just not my cup of tea.

Here is an interesting thread made a couple of years ago on morality:

As for me, the same rules apply whether awake or asleep. I'm not going to rape, pillage, or otherwise commit acts in a lucid dream that I would not perform while awake.

Personally I believe dreams are figments of your imagination so I don't have too much of an issue with giving that special someone a good kick in the shin. Personally, that's the extent of my dreamy wrong-doings (oh I know, how corrupted I am) since I take no pleasure out of anything truly evil.
However, on the subject of morality I sometimes get (non-lucid) dreams that I cheat on my boyfriend which I find really gutting and hard to handle sometimes. How do you control your subconcious not to create dreams like that? I don't know, but at any rate at least it has no grounds in reality and I have no desire to do anything of the sort.
