Dreams of being tortured

I've heard that you aren't supposed to be able to feel pain in your dreams, but this is definitely not true for me. I've had a few dreams now in which I was being tortured. In the first, a crazy fucking surgeon was getting revenge on me for something I had done to him in a past life by surgically removing my pelvis without anesthetic. I dreamt the entire process in real-time and painstaking detail (pun unavoidable). This was about a year ago. The latest was last night, in which I dreamt I was a character who had found some diamonds that were apparently cursed, and was confronted by a spirit who informed me that I would face insufferable pain if I did not return them. For whatever stupid reason, my character scattered the diamonds instead of returning them to their original location. Every night the spirit came and committed some horrible act until the diamonds were returned -- my patella tendons were both slashed and my big toes chopped off, confining me to a wheelchair. My fingers were removed one by one. It climaxed with my right arm being removed at the shoulder with some sort of bone-crushing hammer. All of this is encountered with a great deal of pain and discomfort. Now, when I awaken, it's all over and the dream does not matter. In fact, I find it hilarious that I've had dreams of being tortured, since I find it ironic that my subconscious is causing me to experience the worst fate imaginable. However, it definitely isn't hilarious when I'm in the dream experiencing it. In the dreams I simply close my eyes and try to preoccupy myself away from the pain. So... Do I take the cake for "most fucked up dream possible"? I also had a dream last night in which I found a device that told you how much longer you had to live. It reported that I was to die in two days time. And no I'm not depressed -- my subconscious mind is just a sadistic bastard.

I think your right, lol i have had a few pretty bad dreams, but dont lose any sleep over it, get more, haha na, i guess we need to get these dreams every now and again so we know the difference between the good and the bad ones, and distinguish reality from our minds.

My brain is evil at times, i get random dreams like the other day in which i pulled half the contents of the right side of my head out of my ear thinking it was just a bit of ear wax or something, but no, it had to be attached to the rest of my head.

I feel pain in my dreams; I got bit by a weasel the other night and it really hurt. Maybe your bed is really uncomfortable or something; could it be a real physical sensation that is getting translated and exagerrated in your dreams?

Usually painfull stuff get me lucid in my dreams and then I can just ignore it. Someone was cutting me with a chainsaw once and it was hilarious I just stood there looking at it. Tickling is another thing though cant stand that and I feel it very well in my dreams.

Well now ya gotta remember that Shamans of old were torn apart and tortured and all of that before they were put back together with diamonds or crystals sewn back up inside of them to help them with healing others. Gosh it sure sounds like all the symbols are there huh? Except they are still in the process of dismembering you. Hope they sew you up soon.

Well, I've also heard that it's impossible to feel pain in dreams but from personal experience I can't say that's entirely true! Let's put it this way: In the real world, the reason physical pain exists is to let you know something is not right in/on your body. Like, a cut hurts because you're losing blood - it's like a sign that whatever is happening to your body is not safe. So, in a dream where your subconscious mind throws you into unsafe situations (especially seemingly-realistic ones), if you get hurt, I believe that your mind creates a false sensation of pain as if to make you aware that something is wrong - just like in the real world. Meh... that's the best I can explain it. One of those thoughts that makes sense in your mind but it hard to match with appropriate words.

I had a dream i was being suffocated be Ursala (from the little mermaid) and i really couldn't breathe. That was kind of painful. (P.S. I asked Ariel to save me but she just ignored me)
