Question I Have A Talent, Do You?

Well, first off i may be active again on the site. Many of the members dislike me so i left.

Well, ever since I was little i knew i had a strange ability. I could wake myself up during any dream, at any time.

Last night i had a dream of which an all powerfully alien goddess was going to kill me, so in my head i decided, ill die anyways why not wake up, and i did.

Note: I'm not lucid during these times, its weird i know I'm dreaming, but I'm still stuck in the reality of the dreams.

      Anyone else experience this.

It's the same concept that is used to carry the intention of realising you are dreaming into a dream. Except it's not willful of you. Some part of you, deep inside, from your subconscious, is strong enough to be active during your dreams, which in turn makes it decide to wake up for whatever reason (survival, fear, etc.). Probably a quality that developed as a combination of a strong trait you already had and your interest in dreaming.

Hey TripleX welcome back, i wasn't aware that you left, but welcome back anyways. Thats pretty neat, i used to be able to do that in my nightmares when i was younger, i'd just let whatever it was kill me and i'd just wish myself to wake up and i did.

Yes I can also do that when I feel danger, I would just close my eyes and wake up. Now when I do that I stop just before I wake up, in the darkness of my closed eyes and I become lucid. I could also do that when I was a kid. It developed for me from the sick nightmares I had as a kid. Now nightmares only help me get lucid, but they happen less often

I belive it has something to do with a string of thought you get when you are in a bad situation. When you are in a bad situation I think thats a string of thought appears in your subconcious that asks: How did I get to this situation. When it happens in a dream your subconcious doesnt have an answer cause its only a random dream. This string of thought comes to your concious and you become lucid, but ofcourse first thing you do is try to wake up to escape from danger.

I think in alot of my dreams I know that whatever I'm doing won't really affect me but it doesnt click that I'm dreaming. Like last night I got on a roller coaster but I wasn't strapped in when it started and I didn't freak out like I would IRL. It seems like a part of this underlying knowledge of sleeping is that your body knows that it can get out of a situation and some people have this ability better than others. Also, Triple, I swear I just stared at your avatar for 2 minutes without blinking.

      mines kinda different

i do the same thing but kinda different. hard to explain but its like when im in danger i kinda make the dream disolve around me. then i can 'feel' that my eyes are still closed. so i just sorta force my eyes open . its a relief knowing that you can do this though.

I sort of have something similar. I can't wake up at any time I want, but if, for example, I fall asleep at work, I'll jerk myself awake just as sleep sets in (or, you know, 10 minutes thereafter).
