      Sleep Paralysis experience?

Sorry for the double topic, one after the other, but I want this in a separate thread.

About 5 years ago, in my old house, I was going to bed. I lay on my side, facing in to the wall (I always used to do it, I was scared lol) and went to sleep.

All I remember was waking up in the morning (still very dark outside and inside) and I was turned the other way. I was looking at the VCR, my eyes were fixated on it.

The digital time wasn't proper on it, it was weird, and flashing. Then I remember thinking to get up and fix it maybe, but I couldn't move :/

I tried with all my strength to try and get up, but my eyes were fixated on the VCR all the time, and my body still. I really, really thought I was dead, and with all my strength, I tried and tried to get up. Then after numerous attempts, I got up, but I wasn't up, I was still lying in bed. Freaky

Then after a few more tries, I finally woke up, and everything went back to normal. The digital display on the VCR was normal, and not flashing.

Was this an encounter of sleep paralysis or something else?

      I'm lucky nothing evil happened

I woke up several times when I thought I was asleep..once my then boyfriend entered the room and moved around, I knew what he was doing, yet couldn't tell him because I was still asleep. He freaked out because I wanted him to wake me up but couldn't tell him because I was asleep, yet I saw him in my room

Sounds to me a big like hypnopompic sleep paralysis, however, usually when you experience this, you don't notice anything, it's usually just white, and blurred, unless you roll out of this into a lucid dream. In my experience all hypnopompic sleep paralysis is, your mind has woken up already but has not sent the signal to your body to wake up too, hence the feeling of being aware, but not being able to move.

It could quite possibly have been a dream, which just acted this way. Sometimes when we dream we don't have full control of functions, sometimes we cannot talk, move, or do what we would normally do in waking life.

      He freaked out?

Are you sure he was in the room at the time? Did he confirm this to you? When I was with my ex and experienced sleep paralysis (hypnopompic) I would think I could feel the presence of my ex moving around the bedroom. I never really confirmed if she had moved, but I guess since our minds are technically awake they should be susceptible to external movements.

I really doubt it was a dream, it was so vivid. Then when I got up, I could move. There was no transition, it was weird

The reason I say it sounds like a dream...

Having your eyes open, and on the VCR leads me to believe it was a dream. I have never read of an experience of SP where someone has had their eyes open. And the fact the display was wrong is a clear sign it was a dream.

Then you say you woke up... Just my thoughts

LOL my bad!! I didn't mean to say I woke up hehe

I think my eyes were open. You could be right, it was about 4-5 years ago, can barely remember anyway

been awhile, but yes he confirmed it. I told him what I saw him doing, right down to picking up his ipod and shuffling songs. I told him everything he did in the room, it really freaked him out.

Even though I always wanted to have an SP months back when I succesfully did it I tried moving then couldn't I was thinking to myself wow I did it the whole entire time was about 30 seconds and then I just let myself sleep. I was pissed when I woke up because I wanted to actually experiment the feeling and sights

I first had SP when I was about 13. I never heard of it before at the time.

I found it annoying, but never frightening.

I just kept trying to rock my body back and forth in bed until the movements became drastic enough to "wake up" my body.

Either I'd manage to break the SP and proceed to get up and go get a midnight snack of punch and crisps, or I'd simply fall back asleep.
