Why do remember different amounts of dream each night?

Like how some nights I'll be able to go on for ages about what I dreamt about last night, and some nights I might only be able to write a few sentances. I know about keeping a dream journal and all these things to help you remember dreams, I just want to know why it is how much you remember isn't consistant.

Well Blargh we are not machines desgined to remember our dreams. Anything can affect our dream recall, from actually dreaming less to emotional stress.

Just like no dream is like the other, no recall is like the other

But dream recall usually has an average that improves as you record your dreams. So I just say, keep up your dream journal, and when you don't remember much.. patience

Good luck on yoru efforts boy ^.~

It also depends on when you wake up. If you wake up a few hours after you had the dream, you won't remember as much as you would if you had woken up right smack in the middle of it.
