IQ and Dreams

I was in school today, my mind wondering about a dream I'd recently had that involved a maze like structure. I recalled I'd had a lot of maze's in dreams when I was younger, but that got me thinking about Dream symbols. How does our mind decide to encode things into symbols? Which brings me to my main question. Does I.Q. have an effect on how complex or simple dream symbols and as an extension dreams are, or would imagination and creativity play more into the role than I.Q.?

Interesting question. Through my life I've had really weird and creative dreams, but very few lucids. The plots from my dreams that I remember the most have to be the ones containing time travel and ethical things, such as religion and stuff. But they are all mixed up so strangely. I'm having a slight doubt that IQ plays an essential part of a dream, but I'm really not sure. Most of my dreams do not contain complex puzzles such as mazes as you described in your dream which you had long ago. Interesting question though.

It certainly will affect what is in the dream. For example, if you know about a species of animal that most people don't know, or if you know a math formula that most people don't know, it could incorporate into your dream. As far as I know, rather then creativity and IQ, experiences determine your dreams.

I think the IQ effect the dreams. all info in our brain, or most of it does. some people don't really know what is going to happend if they would spit straight up in the air and stand at the same place. some people normally get that, and more complicated things to. i dreamt of one of my friend who was like that once. he was pupming out liters of gasoline at the ground, and then he light a match. omg, what an iditot was the first thought that got into my head, but that just that guy.

The intelligence and creativity of the subconscious is pretty much unlimited. Forget the content of the dream world. Just the fact that the mind can fabricate its own simulated reality at all takes genius smarts. Just think about it. Designing a dreamworld and dream plot from scratch would be like taking MS Paint and making a movie, one frame at a time, pixel by pixel by pixel, and having it all make sense. (This is an exaggeration, but still, it's pretty damn incredible to think about.) But now to answer the question. Dreams come from your subconscious mind primarily. So I doubt that there's any direct relationship between how smart your conscious mind is and how smart your dreams are. (Unless of course you're lucid and your conscious mind is directly controlling the dream world.) I know plently of really smart people, and when we discuss our dreams, theirs seem to be totally normal. (By normal, I mean completely absurd and nonsensical.)
