I was wondering if narcotic prescription medication would inhibit REM sleep or anything? |

Probably, most chemical substances have an effect on dreams. |

Narcotics in the right dosage will knock you out pretty solid for the night. However, in lighter dosages, interesting things happen. I know two different people who had some pretty weird hallucinations while on morphene after major surgery. |

I know this is a rather old topic now, but last night i had to use my opiate painkiller again for a migraine. |

Lemme guess: Stadol (Butorphanol)? I used to use that for a chronic migraine that I had developed, at first it was pure magic, when nothing else would even make a dent in my headache that stuff with one squirt made the headache go away completely, handfulls of morphine wouldn't even affect the pain at all. Over time the headache slowly returned, to the point where nothing was working again, including the Stadol. I did some research of my own and found that the "rebound" effect on that stuff happens quite quickly, whithin months if I remember correctly, and at that point I had been on the stuff for almost two years! I threw the little bottle in the garbage and got "clean". Funny thing... the headache went away after a few days & I haven't had a migraine since. I've had a couple of tiny "normal" headaches since then but nothing like before. |
