      Question Multiple Dreams

Hey guys, I'm new to lucid dreaming and I just have a question to get me started. I've started keeping a dream journal, and I'm doing well remembering my dreams when I wake up.

My question arose when I started reading other people's dream journals. I noticed that most dreams seem to consist of just one or two "scenes," where the characters and plot seems to stay fairly constant. When I recall my dreams, they also have definite "scenes," but I can remember up to 5 or 6 different "scenes," with transitions between each one. (for example, last night I was running on a quarter mile track, then my surroundings changed and I ended up by a waterfall in the woods only to have the woods replaced by a pub with pinball machines). Does this mean I'm really recalling several different dreams, and am just unaware of the dead time between them when I am not in REM sleep? Or is it all just one very long and complex dream?

From what I understand the dreams we are likely to remember take place during REM cycles and there are only about 4-5 of them during a night (although their duration increases to about an hour for the last few). So there need not necessarily have to be any "dead time" between the dreams if they seem to be following each other in rapid succesion. I frequently have scene transitions in my own dreams but I treat them as a single dream if I feel there is a single "plot" tying them together (and it need not be obvious so long as I can feel that they are related).

      Oh, and to Dream Views.

Welcome I have a lot of different dreams too. Sounds normal.
And experience it as a place to visit and play with reality.
