      Free Dream-diary software

      The link
http://www.justinwordsmith.com/Software has free (i.e., GPL) software for keeping a dream diary. I've used it for years (my database has more than a 1000 dreams in it) and welcome suggestions for improving it.

The software runs under Windows XP, Linux and the source code will work with all of the BSD's (i.e. FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD). Under windows, just unzip the archive and click on the diary-app (no installation required).

It allows styled text (with smart quotes, em-dashes, Unicode, etc.) and pictures, and encrypts the database using strong encryption (Blowfish). It supports searching on words or phrases.

At present, it doesn't have any method of outputting its database since I can't imagine anyone wanting to print out their most intimate thoughts!

Ive been looking for a good one of these for ages. I'm downloading it now, will let you know what i think soon =]

EDIT: Seems very impressive but i'm having a few issues. I've read the README btw.

When i type, it asks for a passphrase, so i enter one in. Then after i'm finished typing my dream i go to file->save. Then i close the program. After i open it again i go to 'open database' but i don't see it anywhere.

      Am i missing something?

EDIT EDIT; my program seems to be different than the screenshot

I don't care how it looks like, it seems to work perfectly, now I won't have to keep writing my dreams on .txt files.

I just start a new paragraph (hit return --- it will display with a little space separating it from the previous paragraph). I don't have a way of having separate database entries for dreams on the same date.

Yea just makes it a little awkward when it comes to categorizing the dreams. Sometimes i remember 3-5 dreams a night, some are lucid, some are not, etc.

      Hello everybody,

      This is my first post.

I'm looked for ages too for a good diary software and the most impressive and active i seen is Evernote.

The look is really great, the functionnalities... the best. You can write notes from the web or from your computer or even your phone (i do that in the train in the morning while going to work). You can upload photos, drawings...

It's free but it works with invitations for the moment. I've about 15 invitations left so if you want to get it just tell me, but please if you think you'll don't like it don't ask me.

You can get infinite notebooks in your diary, you can even create a public diary if you want to share it.

      All that is free.
