      Is this sleep walking?

A few times in the past, I've gotten out of bed to do stuff that came to me in dreams. For example, the other night I woke up with the thought in my head that someone was coming to film and that I should put on shorts and a shirt. As I was digging through my closet, the reasoning became less and less clear until I was standing there saying to myself, "Who is going to come film and why? What are you doing standing here?" Whatever clear picture I had was gone and I got back in bed.

Is that a form of sleep walking?

This is textbook sleep walking. Remember, sleep walkers need to be able to see and understand their environment to be able to navigate, so it's not unexpected that a sleep walking dream will take place precisely where you are in real life.

It's happened a number of times in the past. More recently, I got out of bed because I wanted to know if "he" was still there (on the couch, I guess). When I got to the living room, I couldn't remember who "he" was or what "he" was doing there.

Oh man, I used to sleep walk so much when I was young, not so much anymore, though. My mom has some funny stories about my sleepwalking days.

I'm not quite sure if I was sleepwalking, or just half-asleep, but a few months ago I found myself urinating in the trash bin in my room. I remember thinking "Wait, this isn't the toilet..." as there is a bathroom right outside my room. It was kind of laughable at the time.

I'm not sure if yours is a case of sleepwalking. Then again, I'm not sure about mine, though, either.

      Thumbs up

I do this often. But I don't know if it's considered sleep walking.

When I was younger, however, I truly did sleep walk. Like for instance one morning I awoke and my entire bedroom was clean (it was very messy when I went to bed - I was a typical teenager). I figured somehow my mom must have cleaned my room while I was asleep. Come to find out I had actually cleaned it myself - in my sleep! lol I was also in Speech and Debate in High School and on the nights before a big tournament I had this horrible unconscious habit of hiding my exempt box from myself. I would awake in the morning and would not be able to locate it. Time after time I insisted that someone in the house was playing a trick on me, until one night I actually woke up while I was in the process of hiding it. I suppose it was the stress. Also one night I had a dream that I attempted to flush a wash rag down the toilet (silly, I know). When I awoke, I went to the bathroom and imagine my surprise when I lifted the toilet seat to find a wash rag floating!!

Now I don't sleep walk in that way. But occasionally my son does (he's 6) and it's frightening to witness it!!

I do sleep walk (if it's really called that) in the way you spoke of. I'll awake from a nightmare and still see the scenes around me. They are very real. My terror still grips me, motivates me to move about. Suddenly everything fades away - sight, feeling, and motivation - and I realize that I am awake, I have escaped.

Most often those moments occur when I am having an insect nightmare (don't know why). I awake and find the bug has exited my dream with me and is buzzing (or crawling - depending what kind) menacingly towards me. Again, gripped by fear, I am attempting to swat at it or get away. Until it fades. It doesn't just disappear all in one second. It FADES. The feelings fade, the images fade, I become confused. Because for those moments I was CERTAIN I was CONVINCED that it was real and was here - followed me through the dream portal! And then it fades and I realize it was just residue.

So I guess I didn't really answer your question. But thanks for letting me rant! Good luck figuring out the answer!
