How do I stay still when waking up?

Whenever I wake up after a dream, I always immediately open my eyes and shift around in bed instinctively. Then I realize that I'm supposed to be remembering my dreams. When I try to remember them at that point, it is really hard and I often get frustrated and give up.

My other problem is I can remember a couple seconds of 4 specific dreams I had last night, but I didn't write any of them in my dream journal when I woke up after each dream because I got frustrated trying to remember them.

How do I stay still when waking up, motivate myself to keep trying to remember, and write down what I do remember even if it's not the whole dream?

When you wake up you should immediately write down WHATEVER you remember. It can be a two-page story, a paragraph, or even just a simple feeling or remembering seeing a color for a split second.

Every little but will help your dream recall in the long run.
