      Hypnic Jerks

Why do they happen, can I get lucid in then, and can I induce them?

By far, Mothra (in all of it's forms) is the worst kaiju of all time.

That doesn't make sense. You get lucid during dreams, not twitches.

Not that I am aware of. Anyway, why would you want to?

Last time I checked, you can have them when your really tired, but that's not inducing it, so I don't know. And like DuB said, it's not a dream, more like a hallucination, so you wouldn't be able to get lucid from one.

I almost got lucid in one, I said, "Wait, wasn't I just in my bed? why am I on a bike? Is this a dre-" *jolt* "DAMNIT!!!!"

I realized I tend to have them when I am tired. When I "awake" from one, I usually have about a half hour of energy, which is wierd. Do they happen in deep sleep?

And I am saying I would like to induce them for the same reasons people do drugs. Only sleeping isn't a drug.

You can't "get lucid in one." Once again, that doesn't make sense. The hypnic jerk is the actual twitch itself. It can occur while dreaming but ultimately has nothing to do with dreams, let alone lucidity. You can't get lucid during a hypnic jerk any more than you can get lucid during a blink or sneeze.

When I refer to the "Hypnic Jerk", I am talking about the whole process, not just the actual jerk, but the "dream", "imagery", or whatecer you want to call it.

This is just hypnagogia. You were hallcinating the bike and all. When you realised that it's not real, you jerked because there was no SP yet. In my hypnic jerks I usually just start to fall, which causes a jerk when I try to catch myself.

Thanks, now I know it's a hallocination and not a dream. But I still wounder if you can get lucid on, say, a trip or a hallocination.

I think it's only possible if you can become accustomed to the feeling that comes right before a jerk and then relax so that you don't actually jerk back awake, and then actually stay in the "dream". I don't know how you would do it, but I think it's ever so slightly pssible.

I usally get them as I'm going to bed, but I haven't figured out if it's because I'm extra tired or whatnot.

It's not an hallucination in the medical sense. You're still not getting it. Just read a goddamn WILD tutorial, please.

And I don't think you can lucid dream from a 'trip' unless you get so wasted you pass out.

I know what a WILD is, and I never said go into a lucid dream from a trip. I ment, if you realize to are in a trip, it is deffinatly possible to get lucid, lucid meaning realizing you are not in a normal waking state, I just wanted to know if you could even remotely control it.

Well right, but that is the wrong context for what people on this site use "lucid" as meaning. We are usually specifically referring to lucid dreams.

Why's everyone getting pissy in this post??
