      How do you induce hypnagogia

Seeing image in your head without sleeping, i've had that happend to me before but i don't know how it happend. One day after watching a program about bigfoot, i tried to go to sleep, i had my eyes closed and i saw a picture of bigfoot in my head flexing his muscles. But how do you induce that?

Get into a certain sleep stage. I don't need to wait too long. Just closing my eyes for a minute starts it. After that it just intensifies with time.
So close your eyes and keep your consciousness. Maybe being tired will speed up the process.

Yeah it actually happens pretty quick. For me the problem is more when I see my hypnagogic imagery and I do a double take, and I go "what the hell is that?" and then I snap out of it. Then I have to start over, of course...

      hypnagogia

this has been happpening to me for years, i never knew it was a coined term, phrase, till i found this site. I used to be obsessed with LD.ing a long time ago, and now for some unkown reason ,the auditory aspects of hypnagogia occur to me almost every week. In my personal experience, its a unpleasant, bothering, and sometimes frightening experinece hearing voices, right before i lose unconsciousnesss. I sure theirs plenty of personal opinions regarding this,(for people who sincerely frequently deal with it) and i don't doubt, individually it could be different for everyone

That's actually rather easy but you've got to let your mind wander. I like country roads and rare beautiful scenery for my dreamscapes so I've been doing staring exercises with pictures I like. Even though this can "set-up" a dream, it can also produce non-dream images with your eyes closed. I say get a picture of what you want to see and treat it like those Magic-Eye thingies. Try to make your eyes capture every detail of the picture all at once. Do that in 5 second intervals, as many times as it takes to see what you want. Pause to close your eyes in between each interval. Also, make sure that there are no other visual distractions (this won't work if your watching TV or on the computer unless that's what you're trying to visualize).

Give it a go and let me know how you fair.

Hi Brainchild I just wanted to say I been trying somthing like this for a while now.And im getting no result's I would just stare at at picture for like 30 second's and then just close my eye's and try to recreate what i seen. All i would get is shadow's that just fade away. But i was reading what you wrote sounds like an interesting way of trying this.Im just wondering how long did it take you before you first seen results? Are are the image's as clear as the picture your staring at in your mind's eye? One thing confuse me you said you got to let your mind wander. But how if you have to focus on what your trying seeing?

Yea same here, especially since I am consciously on the lookout for it, when I notice it's happening I get too aware and wake myself up
